Description
One-of-a-kind midcentury retreat on 15 elevated acres near the boundary of Joshua Tree National Park. Panoramic views from nearly every window and two decks. A unique house for nature lovers and those who want to experience the serenity of a gorgeous high-desert setting near the National Park. The space True off-grid style living with magnificent views of Joshua Tree National Park and the tallest mountain in Southern California. The house sits on fifteen elevated acres with gorgeous vistas in all directions. Decks at the front and rear of the house ensure you'll be able to enjoy sunshine or starlight at any hour. The house began as a 1953 homesteader cabin and was later enlarged into a 1,500 square foot two bedroom, two bathroom house with a living room, a den and a study. Its many windows face spectacular vistas--either snow-capped Mt. San Gorgonio or Joshua Tree National Park. Sunrise from the back deck and sunsets from the front deck or living room are breathtaking. The night sky is dark and starry. As the house sits on fifteen private acres and there is no other home on this land, you'll have plenty of space and solitude. You won't often find this much space, wilderness and unobstructed views so close to town and the national park. The house's unique layout provide many spaces for hanging out, indoors and out. The master bedroom and bathroom are on the east side of the house, followed by the kitchen and dining area, the living room, the den with 70" television and guest bathroom, the guest bedroom, and the study with back deck access. This layout ensures privacy and gives two couples or two groups of travelers their open space and lounging areas. There are neighbors, but they are either somewhat distant or very distant, so you will have plenty of desert and mountain views to yourself. While Joshua Tree village and Yucca Valley are each only a few minutes away, the house feels like its own universe. Wildlife abounds on the property. Stare out the window for more than a few minutes and you will see jackrabbits, cottontails, desert quail and many varieties of birdlife. Our house is perfect for nature lovers. The home is solar powered and we have tried to keep our surrounding property as wild as we found it. Other things to note Despite being only a few minutes from the highway and the park, this neighborhood is somewhat off-the-grid. There is no municipal water connection out here, so water gets delivered regularly by truck. You won't notice it during your stay, since all the plumbing is fed by underground tanks, but we appreciate your help in conserving water. What you will notice is that you are staying in a uniquely serene location! Check in time is 3pm. However, if the house is ready, we are happy to accommodate early check ins.
