When you are finished playing on the river, enjoy the solitude of this lovely home in a quiet residential neighborhood. Sit on your front porch with your favorite beverage to watch the neighborhood cat, hummingbirds, and other urban wildlife. Step into the living room and notice the high ceilings, hardwood floors, window transoms, and charming decor and embellishments. You are truly in a doll house. Three bedrooms and 2 full baths make this a comfortable home for 6 guests. There are TVs in the living room and two of the bedrooms. The home is fully furnished with linens, towels, utensils, dishes, pots and pans. The kitchen has a microwave, refrigerator, gas oven/stove, dishwasher and coffeemaker. There is a separate dining area in the sun room. The back screened porch houses the washer/dryer. As a guest at The Austin Street Haus, you have the entire home all to your self. It is a great place because of its location near Schlitterbahn, downtown, and the river. Downtown is about 1 mile away. While downtown, be sure to visit Henne Hardware, the oldest hardware store in Texas, and Naegelin's, the oldest bakery in Texas. There are also a number of unique shops, the historic Sophienburg and children's museums, taverns, and restaurants downtown. Take the children to Landa Park to ride the miniature train, picnic, to hike through Panther Canyon, to visit the Founder's Oak, to swim in the spring-fed swimming pool, and to hear a summer evening concert at the dance slab. Visit Gruene Hall, the oldest dance hall in Texas, to listen to live music and see where legends like George Strait, Lyle Lovett, and Willie Nelson got started. While in Gruene, visit the General Store along with other unique shops, music venues, and restaurants. Take a scenic drive up River Road to Canyon Lake for horseback riding, hiking, and water sports. Plan a day at the San Marcos outlet. Natural Bridge Caverns is close by for a day of spelunking. Go to San Antonio to visit the Alamo, River Walk, and Seaworld. Visit Austin to see the Capitol, 6th Street, and learn why it is known as the "Live Music Capitol of the World." New Braunfels has a festival almost every weekend. You are in the ideal location to enjoy local activities as well as those in the nearby hill country area. New Braunfels has taxis, Uber, and Lyft. The "Austin Street Haus" has a permit with the city of New Braunfels as an approved short term vacation rental. Owner requires a signed rental agreement. The agreement is provided via email and must be returned completed and signed before access information is granted.
