I’m the new owner of this delightfully cozy lakeside cabin, which I purchased both for my own enjoyment and to share with others. I have worked hard to make the space feel warm and home-like. When you book a stay at Dancing Feather, you are helping to subsidize our alternative artist residency, which offers time and space to BIPOC artists for composing, convening, communing, writing, resting, rejuvenating, and any other necessary activities that can be accomplished without a formal studio space. Please follow the journey at dancingfeather (dot) org Amenities: The kitchen is outfitted with a new stove, range hood and fridge and stocked with everything you need to cook and eat a meal, plus a pantry that includes coffee, tea, dry and canned goods. The living space includes a smart TV, HEPA air filtration, a wood burning fireplace, plus games, puzzles, and plenty of books for when you want to unplug. (High speed Internet is provided for when you need to plug in!) Clean linens, extra towels and laundry are all here to help you keep it clean. Guests have access to the outdoor grill and a lakeside fire pit. Firewood is provided. This is a very cozy 3-bedroom A-frame great for couples, a family, or a small group of friends. The structure of the house includes one full lower floor with a lofted second floor, where the two smaller bedrooms are located. As a result, no more than 6 guests and 2 pets are allowed. Please note the number of guests and pets in your reservation request. Absolutely no parties and no extra guests. There is a $250 security deposit associated with the listing, which you will see upon booking. Guests are NOT charged for this up front, and the deposit will only be used in the event of damage or the need for cleaning beyond the ordinary procedures. If you are bringing any animals into the house, please include that in your booking inquiry. Animals are not to be left unsupervised in the house. Sometimes we have snowy winters here, so I want you to know what to expect. There are heat mats on the deck that will melt some of the snow and ice, but the rest of the deck and stairs may need some shoveling to give you a clear path. I have a service that plows the long driveway, but you will likely need to do some additional shoveling to dig your car out. I provide a shovel, but you should be prepared to do a little work in the event of a storm. The county plows are thorough, so you should expect local roads to be fairly driveable after a storm. The house has baseboard heaters in every room, there is also a very efficient space heater. The house has a wood-burning stove that can heat the entire house comfortably alone if you keep a fire going. My home is picturesque in the winter, and I have worked extra hard to make it warm and cozy during the coldest temperatures! Summer guests: UPDATE as of July 1 - The floating dock is under repair. I am working to have it permanently installed ASAP. There are stairs down to the water and you are still welcome to swim and make use of the kayaks. For all: Swinging Bridge is named for the wooden bridge that used to cross the Mongaup River, a tributary of the Delaware River that was damned to create this reservoir. Mongaup, in some native languages, means dancing feather. Guests have access to the full house and property. Messaging through the app is the best way to reach us. The area is the beautiful Catskills - with amazing hiking, skiing, and outdoor activities throughout the area. The house is close to the Toronto Reservoir, the historic Bethel Woods Performing Arts Center, the Resorts World Casino, and the Forestburgh Playhouse. Livingston Manor, Callicoon, and Narrowsburg are all a short drive away. Farm markets, distilleries, breweries, and more. You’ll want to have/rent a car, as the house is a 10-15 minute drive to most businesses and restaurants. We have committed to the enhanced cleaning protocol provided by AirBnB, that involves cleaning, disinfecting and sanitizing. The floating dock is removed from October-May.
