Welcome to the Last Chair Lodge! This is our family-friendly mountainside retreat on the slopes of Saddleback Mountain Ski Area in Rangeley, ME. Ski -in/Ski-out in winter (natural snow dependent), in summer enjoy a peaceful, beautiful and comfortable mountain retreat. The view is breathtaking in all seasons. Come for outdoor adventures, time on the nearby lakes or just to unwind and soak in the scenery. Yes, we have A/C! We have fast fiber WiFi! HDTV w/several streaming services included. This is our happy place, and we've worked hard to make it as comfortable as possible for our guests. It's a 1,600 sf slope-side chalet-style condominium that sleeps 6 in comfort, and can accommodate 8. 3 bedrooms plus bonus nursery/playroom. Upstairs you'll find the main living area which is an open-concept entry/Living Room/Kitchen/Dining Area combo, a deck with a Weber grill, a full bathroom and queen bedroom. Living room: Gas fireplace. 55" HDTV with access to major streaming services. WiFi is a direct fiber optic connection with speeds around 1 gig up and down. Landline phone provided (cell reception is spotty), with free calling to US and Canada. Board games and puzzles for your use. A/C unit is in the living room-in summer we leave bedroom doors open to allow them to cool. Dining table seats 8 comfortably, and there is a chair-mounted booster seat/high chair hybrid for your little one. Kitchen includes complimentary coffee, tea, sugar, spices and oil. Kitchen is well-stocked with a full array of cookware, ccoking utensils, place settings, etc. Yes, we have a lobster pot, crackers and picks! Queen bedroom includes a 32" HDTV with all the same services/channels as the Living Room. There's even an acoustic guitar you are welcome to use (with care, of course). Downstairs there is a bunk room (Single over double with single trundle), king bedroom, nursery/playroom (with pack and play and single bed), second full bathroom and utility closet with front-loader washer/dryer. A/C unit is in the king bedroom-in summer we leave bedroom doors open to allow all rooms to cool. There are some children's books and toys you are welcome to use. Bathrooms are fully equipped with paper products, towels and hair dryers, curling iron and flattening iron. Walk out the door in the master bedroom to the lower level deck, directly onto the ski trail in winter, and back lawn in summer. ***PLEASE NOTE that the hot tub will not be available for the 2024 rental season :( as we do not have a reliable service provider in the area. We're so sorry we can't share it this year! We're working on a solution so we can offer it for guests in future years*** You'll find chairs and a fire pit down there, which you are welcome to use. Please observe Fire Pit guidelines and etiquette (see house rules) for your safety and in consideration of our neighbors. Help yourself to any wood you see in our rack, but please do replace what you use. We also include beach chairs and towels for guest use in summer - visit Town Cove Park or Rangeley Lake State Park - both have beautiful beaches! The entire condo and outside areas are all yours. As this is a condo, you will be sharing a wall with our neighbors. Please be respectful and observe quiet hours starting at 10pm. In winter, we sometimes leave some of our belongings in closets/drawers - we will let you know when you book. There is room to spread out regardless. Sorry, but the hot tub will not be available for guest use in the 2024 rental season, due to a lack of available service providers to maintain it in our absence. We live in Portland, ME and are generally available to respond to questions that arise during your stay. We do have a local cleaning person and maintenance person if anything comes up that requires a service visit. Saddleback Mountain is a special place. It's a big mountain with the heart of a small one. Our neighbors are friendly and down to earth. Rangeley has a friendly, welcoming small-town vibe. The pace of life is slower. Locals love to stop and chat. Walk right from the condo to some beautiful trails, including Rock Pond and the Saddleback Mountain summit, on the Appalachian Trail. A couple miles down the road is the Rangeley Outdoor Center, with X-Country Skiing, Snowshoeing and Fat-Bike/Mountain bike trails. Rangeley Lake and town are a 15-minute drive down the mountain, where you'll find a cafe, brew pub, sports bar, lakeside restaurants and plenty of water access for boating, fishing, kayaking or just lounging at the town beach. There's so much water in the area - from large, rugged mountain lakes to quiet, calm, remote ponds, and rivers for nationally-renowned fly fishing or just a quiet picnic. We are one hour from Sugarloaf/Carrabassett Valley, with more excellent hiking, mountain biking and skiing. PLEASE NOTE: This is a remote mountain location, which is one of the things we love about it. Given that, be prepared for spotty cell reception and steep mountain roads. From Nov-April, snow tires and/or 4-wheel drive are recommended (if you don't have either, just take it slow). The secondary roads can have large heaves and/or significant dips - especially Saddleback Mountain Road. Town and the local IGA are a 10-15 minute drive down the mountain. As noted in winter we sometimes leave a limited amount of personal belongings in closets/dressers. We will give you a heads up when you book if that's the case. In winter, be sure to check the Saddleback Ski Resort web page for snow conditions and, if you are a XC fan, the Rangeley Lakes Trails Center.
