The cottage is situated on many acres surrounded by water, farmland and wildlife. Your only neighbor is the owner's home which is next door. CANCELLATION POLICY -- 100% if 30 or more days from check in, 50% if 7 days or more - can offer credit for future stays or can change dates. PET FEE — $25/dog payable upon arrival. Only dogs are permitted For over 70 years our family has owned Mom and Pop's cottage. Reputed to be the first home on Honest Point. the cottage is the epitome of relaxed uncomplicated living. The house was renovated and upgraded for guests about 8 years ago and we continue to add improvements as the needs arise. Mom and Pop's cottage is situated on deep water and has a small beach. The shore drops off slowly providing small children with safe places to play in the water. The surrounding 25 acres provide ample opportunities for children and pets to roam around The interior includes an equipped kitchen, two bedrooms, (a queen bed in one, 2 doubles in the other), one bathroom w shower, living room, office space and two screened porches. The house is located in the historic Northern Neck region of Virginia. Enjoy crabbing, fishing, boating, kayaking, winery tours, and the historic homes of George Washington, Robert E Lee and James Monroe. If you prefer wildlife rather than night life this is the place for you. Wake up each morning to eagles, geese, herons, and local crabbers fishing their pots. This is a quiet rural location with plenty of acreage which will give you the chance to get away from the bustle and stress of the city. Most amenities can be reached within 30 minutes. A note for those from the city -- we live in an area where "critters" are a fact of life. Some of them are a pleasure to see and some of them are a nuisance. We make every effort to accent the positive and eliminate the negative critters that you may encounter . If there is an issue with any critter, contact us immediately so we may correct the problem Can be rented for the summer or the year at reduced rates HURRICANE and INCLEMENT weather policy. Generally speaking, if the house is safe and ready for occupancy, there will be no refunds made. If the owner has to cancel your reservation for safety or other reasons, you will receive a refund. No one but renters uses the house Other things to note PLEASE NOTE -- Animals are welcome and there is ample room for them to roam. There is a $25/pet pet fee that must be paid upon arrival. SECURITY DEPOSIT -- There is a $300 security deposit. Please pay in cash when you arrive and it will be returned to you upon checkout.
