GUESTROOM: The guest room is specifically set up to host a guest and reflects more of a traditional Bed & Breakfast setting with farmhouse decor. Enjoy the guestroom with a full-size, white cottage iron bed with a Serta mattress. A coverlet (thin bedspread) for summer and alternative down comforter for fall and winter. There is central air, but with an older home, the window AC is what is going to keep the room cool. There is a portable tabletop fan and ceiling fan as well to help with the Indiana summers! Central heating is good and also provided are extra blankets as well as small electric fireplace for further comfort as needed. WHAT IS IN ROOM: Small refrigerator resides in the guestroom to store small items and there is a coffee maker in the room for your use. Coffee, creamer and a few snacky items on hand. Microwave is available to use in the kitchen to heat up food. 32" tv with smart apps. Streaming Netflix and Sprectrum. Hangers, guest towels, towel hanger, hamper, hair dryer, full length mirror, chair and tv tray are located in the comfort of the guest room. Black out shades for those that need more darkness while sleeping. The closet can store a suitcase and hang clothes. Music therapy students have stored good sized instruments as well while enjoying a night out with their fellow students. BATHROOM: The updated bathroom is shared with the host and is set up to host a guest. Shampoo & conditioner, body wash, towels, blow dryer provided. KITCHEN: Due to overnights tend to be back-to-back bookings with time pressed for room changeover tasks, cooking and food storage in kitchen refrigerator will be available for guest staying 3 days or longer. LOCAL MARKET & FOOD OPTIONS FOR SHORT STAY: For guests just staying overnight or two, there is a wonderful local grocery market, Baesler's Market, a mile from home, that in addition to being a small grocery market, has a wonderful hot food bar and salad bar that is open until 8pm before the market closes at 9pm. Charlie's Pub and Grub, home of the famous tweety burger is within a 10 min walking distance and Zonka Irish Pub is a local fav and is in easy driving distance. ALL THE DEETS ON GRAYSON: Grayson, my 6-year-old Norwegian Elkhound will greet you after you settle into the guestroom - get ready for an excited playful romp! Indicative to his breed, he does have a deep bark - which gives way in a couple of minutes to adorable hugs and sitting on your feet, as Elkhounds are family dogs as part of their breed profile and love companionship! I set up the pet gate during your stay at the hallway and please feel free to come and go as you need to - the gate is there so Grayson does not lay at the foot of the guestroom door! A double coated breed, Grayson will shed. Lint brushes provided! Extended stayers, even with regular vacuuming, might see a stray cotton ball, please take it all in stride! While my dog is chill and cuddly with people, he is excitable around other dogs and it is best if he is only one in house. LAYOUT OF HOME REVIEW: Host will welcome guest as there is not a private entrance to guestroom. Enter through the living room and conversation room. Master bedroom and guestroom are separated by 8-foot hallway. The one bathroom is shared with homeowner and is in between the rooms. Shared/common spaces such as living room, conversation room are reflective of a homeowner/host occupied home. The shared areas reflect a working household, walking dog twice a day and real-life errands in a compact space, this home is in motion and reflects a casual pulled together environment. STAY LENGTH AND TYPES OF STAYS: From travelers driving across country that need an overnight, to parents visiting their children from ISU & Rose-Hulman for a day or so, to music and art therapy students coming in for their on-site education weekend to travelers attending local events to Terre Haute and Indiana. Also open to extended stay requests - I have hosted many traveling medical professionals' overnights to a few days or a week stay as well as their 12-week assignment! Terre Haute small town local favorites of Java Haute Coffee, Grand Traverse Pie Company, and Zonka Irish Pub - a local and out of towners favorite, are just a few of the local restaurants to choose from. Terre Haute is 67 miles and a 70 minute drive from Indianapolis airport and a straight drive on I-70. Please send an inquiry first. Include reason for travel and traveling from. During the work week, check-in time preferred 5:30 pm and no later than 9:30 pm. With prior communication, later arrival may be accommodated. As I check-in guests in person (and introduce you to Grayson) please provide ETA the day of travel and have text capability if possible. At this time, early check-in or luggage drop-off cannot be accommodated. If I could accommodate travelers with dogs, I would, but Grayson is best suited with just people visiting.
