The Adobe at Whitehouse Mountain

The Adobe is located between Alpine and Big Bend National Park. Enjoy picturesque views of the Chisos Mountains from the garden area of this adobe built in the early years of Terlingua Ranch. The ‘bunkhouse’ was originally built to house the road crew in the 1970’s, while the supervisor lived in the adjacent main house. The original Mexican floor tiles remain, giving it a historic rustic feel. It sits on 40 acres nestled at the base of Whitehouse Mountain. Sunrises and sunsets are glorious. The space The bunkhouse consists of a full kitchen, open dining/living room, full bathroom and large bedroom. There are two reclining couches in the living room (comfortable for sleeping!) and a queen bed in the bedroom. Relax in the shade of the cactus garden during the day, or marvel at the night sky . We are typically available in the main house if you need anything; otherwise we will leave you to relax and enjoy! The property is located 2 miles from Terlingua Ranch Lodge, where you will find internet and a laundromat available, as well as good food and entertainment at the Bad Rabbit Café. Both Big Bend National and State Parks are well within an hour drive, as well as the historic towns of Terlingua, Lajitas, and Ghost Town. Guest access You will have use of the entire 4 room adobe home, as well as the property it sits on. Other things to note Cell phone coverage is limited in the area. We do have a landline phone in the main house if needed. Internet access is limited in the bunkhouse. Internet is available at the Bad Rabbit Cafe, and you are also welcome to sit on the main house patio where reception is typically better. Water is a scarce resource in the desert. Please keep in mind conservation during your stay both at the adobe and elsewhere within the region.
