Built in 1919 and updated to provide all modern amenities while preserving the feel of a true Maine “camp,” the charming lakefront Sunset Lodge is just 20 minutes from the vibrant town of Bethel. Spacious Sunset Lodge sleeps 6 with one bath. The separate comfortable Guest House (an additional $500 per week) sleeps 4, with its own bath and kitchenette. July and August bookings that include the Guest House preferred. World class hiking and fishing throughout the area Western Foothills area. This private end-of-the-road cottage features a first floor bedroom, den/guest room, airy sleeping loft, modern eat-in kitchen, open dining/living room, updated bathroom with original claw foot tub/shower, sun porch and outdoor porch. The water’s edge renovated “pump house” provides a perfect rainy day playhouse or sleeping space for those who like to hear the water lapping at night. A sweet guest house accommodating 4 with bath and kitchenette is available for an additional $500 per week. A private dock plus walk-in entry to pond plus canoe and kayaks are yours to enjoy all Howard Pond has to offer - boating, trout and salmon fishing, swimming or just lazing on the dock . Sunset Lodge basks in the sun all day and catches the final rays and dramatic sunsets. The entire house, plus the Pump House, are yours alone. The Guest House can be added to the rental, and is never rented to a different party. Private dock plus small sandy/pebble entry -- great for little children -- into Pond. Howard Pond is one of the deepest and loveliest small lakes in Maine! Nearby Bethel, Maine has lots of restaurants and pubs. Typically, our guests provide their own linens, but if you are traveling by plane and need us to make up beds for you, we can do that for an additional fee. The maximum number of guests for Sunset Lodge is 6. That number is 10 if the Guest House is included in the booking. July and August bookings that include the Guest House are strongly preferred. Rentals for July and August without the addition of the Guest House will be considered as the summer approaches.
