Charming country house, 180 acres, near MtMansfield, Smugglers Notch and Stowe

Description

Our 1865 farmhouse is nestled into Pleasant Valley, with a commanding view of majestic Mt. Mansfield. On 180 very private acres of pristine woodlands, this is a place to get away from the hustle, to fill your lungs with fresh air, and to “re-charge.” Like all authentic Vermont farmhouses, we have cozy bedrooms, open space for kitchen/dining and living rooms, light and airy. Everything is clean, solid, modernized and functional without sacrificing the country feel of an old Vermont farmhouse. The space There are three bedrooms. The master bedroom is on the ground floor in its own “wing,” with two beds, a queen and a twin, and a private full bath. The other bedrooms are upstairs and share a full bathroom – the one to the right has four twins; the one to the left has a queen and a twin. We have one child-size roll-away, and floor areas can accommodate air mattresses and sleeping bags. The kitchen is fully equipped and ready for cooking gourmet feasts. The larder is loaded with teas, coffees, hot chocolate, and other cooking/eating essentials, which you are welcome to use but we ask that they be replaced if usage is heavy. Our washer and dryer ensure that you are ready for anything, whether you brought enough clothes or not, and our caretaker and housekeeper will be happy to pitch in if you’d like their help while at the house. We always keep an ample supply of seasoned firewood, and we have both indoor and outdoor fireplaces. Guest access The entire house is "at your service!" We have a huge deck with awesome views, a large fresh water pond, spring fed -- great for swimming in summer and skating in winter -- and a shed-full of outdoors equipment. Other things to note This is a rural setting, so you will have to have your own transportation. For groceries, there is a great grocery store right in Underhill, Jericho Market – it’s a little pricey, but the quality seems excellent. It's about 10 minutes away. We also use Hanley’s in Jeffersonville, a small family owned grocery store about 6 miles away. They have excellent meats but the vegetable selection’s not usually great. And there’s an excellent Hannaford’s in Essex Junction, right off Rte 15, about 20 minutes from the house. As for restaurants, there is some excellent dining: The Kitchen Table in Richmond ) is about 20 minutes from the house, and the Culinary Institute’s restaurant in Essex, called The Tavern at (predictably enough) The Essex Culinary Resort & Spa . There are lots of fine restaurants in Burlington, though they are 45 minutes or so each way….And Jeffersonville (on the way to Smuggler’s Notch) has three that are fun and perfectly adequate: 158 Main (great baked product, breads, etc.), Smugglers Notch Inn, and Family Table. And there’s also the Hearth & Candle, right in the Smugglers Notch Village (ski area). Registration Details 440-452671750F-01
