No steep Mtn roads. Easy access off I-40. Be prepared to be awed! You’ve just found a little slice of heaven. Stay next to a fully functioning 1798 grist mill. A rare piece of TN history This 2 story, coziest of cabins, is newly furnished and on 3 secluded acres Relax by your own private cascading creek. Cook out on the grill, picnic or warm up by the fire pit, all creek side Dandridge (the 2nd oldest town in TN) scenic Douglas Lake, Pigeon Forge and The Smokies are nearby Experience a place that, prior to being featured on the Discovery Channel, was known only to a few locals. Privately tucked away in a 3 acre wooded hollow, is a place like no other. Driving in, the three story, fully functioning, authentic 1798 grist mill will greet, charm & fascinate. Note: Mill is not open to the public so you will have the property all to yourselves during your stay. This property has been an iron forge, foundry; and a mill (for locals and moonshiners alike) for the past 222 years. The cabin, hidden behind the mill, was built much sooner as a private residence. This property is now, for the first time in history, available for you to enjoy. By staying here you will also be contributing to the preservation and upkeep of this wonderful piece of history for future generations. Hidden behind the mill is the cabin. Newly furnished throughout. King & queen bedrooms upstairs, a newly remodeled bathroom downstairs, quaint kitchen, living room & hidden laundry. If it couldn’t get any better than this, sit on one of the front porch rockers or swing and be relaxed by your own private cascading creek! Historic Dumplin Creek runs right through the middle of the property, has a 5ft deep swimming hole and is even known to have a fish or two. If you’re lucky, you might get a rare sighting of our resident family of six otters playing & diving for fish in the creek. Explore the trail behind the cabin (at your own risk) where the old mill race runs, all the way to the sluice gate and dam, which is also part of this enchanting property. Cook out on the grill, picnic, or roast marshmallows on the fire pit, all creek side. Living away from it all, you may feel like Davy Crockett, and keep in mind that you are only a few minutes away from the second oldest town in Tennessee, one of the most scenic (& best fishing) lakes around and within a short drive to Pigeon Forge and The Great Smoky Mountains National Park. With nature abounding, history and all the attractions that the area has to offer, what could be better? You can be one of the first to find out, but be forewarned, you may not want to leave. No scary, steep mountain roads to traverse. Parking for 2-3 vehicles. Completely private & secluded for your use only. Note: The inside of the old grist mill, located on this property, is not available to the public, nor (for safety reasons) is it available for our guests to go inside. Please feel free to message, text or email us at any time. We are always glad to answer any questions. You will be staying only 2 miles off exit 412, which is only 4 miles from exit 407, the gateway to Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and The Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Down the road is Dandridge, the second oldest town in Tennessee and it is full of intriguing history. In the center of town is Hopewell Presbyterian Church, founded in 1783 and it's still serving the community. Also downtown is a well maintained Revolutionary graveyard, a courthouse with museum that houses the wedding certificate of Davy Crockett & Polly Finley! Tinsley-Bible Drug Store & Soda fountain, has been operating since 1911. For something completly different, visit Wolf Paws which is not open to the public but available for free private tours. There are several very popular marinas and restaurants on Douglas Lake. This lake is one of Tennessee's most beautiful with views of the Smoky Mountains surrounding. It is also one of the best fishing lakes around and is home to several popular fishing tournaments. Rent a pontoon for the day and create great memories. 2 miles off I-40 5 miles from beautiful, scenic Douglas Lake 5 miles from downtown Dandridge (second oldest town in TN) 18 miles from Sevierville (home of Dolly Parton) 24 miles from Pigeon Forge (multitudes of restaurants, attractions and Dollywood) 25 miles from downtown Knoxville (home of the Vols, great old city eateries and breweries) 30 miles from Gatlinburg and The Great Smoky Mtn’s National Park 85 miles from Asheville NC and Biltmore House & Gardens We now have the latest and greatest fiber optics 1G high speed wireless internet capability!
