Reflective of this legendary authors' tropical colonial style, our Ernest Hemingway queen guestroom is our only 1st floor guestroom. Adorned with a chinoiserie focal wall and Tiffany blue walls, this beautiful Victorian guestroom has high ceilings, a private bathroom with a shower, a queen-sized bed Victorian high bed, and beautiful built-in wood cabinetry. It is the only guest room conveniently located on the first floor of the Inn. THE OLD LIBRARY INN This beautiful Victorian was built in 1895 by an oil producer with amazing attention to detail and stunning woodwork. Converted to a Bed & Breakfast in 1985, The Old Library Inn is the Southern Tier's most unique boutique inn, full of Victorian charm and simple luxuries. Come discover what it means to fall in love with Olean on one of our city's most beautiful streets, in one of the Southern Tier's most enchanting locations. Each morning you will start with fresh brewed coffee or teas to start your day. Next, select your favorites from our 3-course breakfast, which includes a fruit course, along with a made-to-order main course (eggs cooked-your-way, fluffy made-to-order omelets, maple-cinnamon French toast, crispy Belgian waffles, or fluffy buttermilk pancakes). Our third course favorites include savory breakfast potatoes, hickory smoked bacon, and maple sausage, accompanied by various breads to complement your dining experience. Of course, we offer an amazing breakfast, but what makes an inn different than a typical bed & breakfast? Unlike a regular bed & breakfast, an inn offers dining options for lunch and dinner. Our restaurant menus are available in your guestroom, the inn dining room, and the inn parlor for your convenience. We will deliver your meal(s) directly to the inn dining room or to your guestroom. As a guest, you can enjoy lunch on the Victorian front porch, afternoon tea in the parlor by the cozy fire, or dinner in our elegant 1895 dining room. (Exception: Sun-Tues) ABOUT OUR RESTAURANT The Old Library Restaurant, located next door, is one of the region’s most beautiful and treasured landmarks. Built in 1909, with funds provided by the philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, this elegant work of art was designed by architect Edward L. Tilton in the Beaux-Arts style, complete with original bookcases, a grand staircase, and two fireplaces. Full of Old-World charm and Art Deco flare, The Old Library pays tribute to the history of Olean's prohibition-era with its cozy and casual speakeasy vibe. This exquisite historical landmark was listed on the National and State Register of Historic Places in 1985. Executive Chef, CJ Wright All guests at The Old Library Inn are invited to utilize the common areas of the inn (parlor/lounge, dining room, front porch and portions of the kitchen.) Please be mindful that during Covid-19, it is important to always wear your mask in these shared areas. Hand sanitizer is available throughout the inn for your convenience. Cooking in the kitchen is strictly prohibited, as our kitchen is for breakfast preparation. You may utilize the tea and coffee maker at the front of the kitchen only. Management is available 24/7 by phone. We are working owners and are readily available in person during regular business hours, or by request. Western New York is magical. We know. We live here.
