Description

Come stay at our one of a kind tiny house that had its famous start on HGTV's Tiny House Big Living. You will have a very private beautiful place to relax, and have fun on the quiet end of Smith Mountain Lake. Only steps away from the water, you can enjoy fishing, and water sports. The aerial photo showcases the tiny house and its accompanying space. You will be in the beauty of nature, but are still only 20 minutes away from downtown Roanoke, or the West Lake shopping/dining area. The space You will be steps away from the water to enjoy fishing, and water sports. The shoreline has many nice walnut trees that provide cool shade. We have outdoor folding chairs for your enjoyment to sit on the tiny house deck or on the shore. We also have some floating devices for the water for you to chill in. You will need to bring you own fishing rods, and canoes or kayaks if you want to enjoy those activities. There are a few hiking opportunities at your site with beautiful rock formations and lake views with the possibility of seeing wildlife. There are many local places to rent kayaks, and Bay Rock Marina with a boat launch is 12 miles away. You will be staying in our one of a kind tiny house that had its famous start on HGTV's Tiny House Big Living a couple years ago. It now lives on our historic family farm and is open for your enjoyment. If you are wondering about Aunt Dude, she was a woman that lived on the farm a hundred years ago. Aunt Dude was an energetic character who loved the land. We like to think her energy still inhabits the area. If you rent with us you will have a comfortable but off grid experience. The house has solar electricity (lights and a fridge), a hot shower and a "Separett" waterless toilet. You will be provided with instructions on how this works. There is an outside cooking/gas grill area (no cooking in the house) with a rain water sink for cleaning up. The tiny house does not have air conditioning, but there is a fan and good cross ventilation. We provide you with cotton bed sheets, pillows, a bath towel for each person, toilet paper, and a couple gallons of drinking water. Do not drink from the inside faucet as this is water for washing hands only. There is an electric water kettle with a french coffee press inside. Coffee and tea are provided. Like camping, you will need to bring your own drinks, and food. We encourage you to bring bug spray, a flashlight, and personal toiletries (soap, shampoo, etc.) While we have plates, bowls, cups, utensils, two cooking pots and a frying pan, you may want to bring your own favorite kitchen gear. There is also a designated fire pit with some firewood for your enjoyment at the site. What is glamping and what will you have when you stay in our tiny house? Glamping is still camping, with some added amenities like a comfortable queen bed and seating. The tiny house is going to be much more comfortable than a tent and it’s already set up for you. Keep in mind, We Are Not A 5 Star Resort. There is no wifi at the site. We want folks to arrive with accurate expectations, so if you don’t like camping.... you probably will not enjoy a stay here. And yes, you may encounter bugs, as that’s part of being in nature. If you are looking for a private beautiful getaway on the lake however, then this is your place. The water flows by your windows and the skies are filled with stars at night. This is a special place not to be missed! Guest access Guests will have the entire area to themselves. There is only one tiny house on this site. We are a short distance away in the main farmhouse.
