Once Upon a Porch @ Moody Hollow/Appalachian Trail
Description
Nestled in the heart of the Southern Appalachians lies a simple, rustic escape, Once Upon A Porch. Living up to it's name with a spacious, open-air, wrap around porch which includes hammock, ping-pong, picnic, swing and rockers. From one side enjoy the view of mountain stream, and from the other see a garden with double swing, enchanting gazebo, and small community park. A short drive to High Shoals Falls and Appalachian Trail, this is the perfect base camp for any outdoor adventures. The space Circa 1950s cabin has been restored to preserve its vintage flavor. Many of the furnishings are original, and afford a terrific back drop for an authentic aesthetic in the tradition of the Great Camps of the Northeast, or the rustic weekender you remember as a child. Between Dick's Creek and Unicoi Gap on the Appalachian Trail, Moody Hollow is just over the mountain from Lake Burton. We're at the foot of the Tray Mountain Wilderness Area, within 5 miles of Brasstown Bald (the highest point in Georgia). Our space is VERY pet friendly! If you have dog allergies this may not be the place for you. Though we're only 90 miles north, Moody Hollow is generally 13-15 degrees cooler than Atlanta so air conditioning is rarely needed. We've got fans for the hottest summer days but at night it cools off quickly so pack smart; it can get chilly even in July. For a greater sense of flavor search "Moody Hollow" on Pinterest Guest access AT&T cell service is available. You won't even find a black and white T.V. as we prefer not to disrupt the sounds of the crackling fire and the flowing mountain stream. It's best to unplug completely and get back to the real meaning of "Getting Away from it All". Other things to note We have dogs up here very often so if you are highly allergic our cabin may not be ideal.
