"The Cottage" is the perfect escape from the city, a romantic hideaway, peaceful meditation, creative retreat or destination for an adventure packed vacation. Whatever your motivation is for coming out to the country, we hope that by the time you leave you will do so feeling more rested and rejuvenated than before you arrived. The space Located on an idyllic farm that has been in our family for generations, the trumpet vine-covered cottage was originally built in the 1800s​ as a carriage house and was renovated and turned into the cottage about fifteen years ago when we were first married and before we purchased the original stone farmhouse from my parents. Indoor amenities include air-conditioning, high-speed wireless Internet, 65” flat-screen smart TV with cable with soundbar, queen-size bed in loft, washer/dryer, propane heat stove (wood stove look with log burning inside). There is a garden patio with wraparound seating for outside eating during sunny days and a full kitchen that includes everything you need to turn your local farmers' market finds into gourmet meals: electric range with oven, microwave oven, full-size fridge-freezer, place settings, stainless steel cookware, coffee maker, toaster and more. The upstairs loft bedroom has a Select Comfort queen bed, oversized chair and sitting area with a small desk. The second floo​r bathroom hosts a shower/tub, washer/dryer, custom wood counter and sink, medicine cabinet and storage. The main room is set with a cute dining room table, antique chairs and a comfortable couch where you can relax with a book as you listen to the birds sing outside or watch a movie on lar​ge flat-screen TV. The cottage is located in the beautiful farming community of Huff’s Church, Pennsylvania and is in the heart of the Pennsylvania Dutch countryside, yet you will only be fifteen minutes from the closest grocery store and just minutes from some fantastic places that will bring the countryside you are visiting to life, including; The Landis Store Hotel – 3 minutes - an amazing farm to table style restaurant with plenty of outside seating in their garden patio Echo Hill Country Store – 8 minutes – an incredible country store filled with organic goods in bulk Shady Mountain Market – 8 minutes – a local farmer produce market The Rodale Institute farm, garden store and visitor center – 15 minutes – the original pioneers of the organic gardening movement Bear Creek Ski Resort, is a quick 10 min drive down the road. When you are ready to get out and explore farther, your options are virtually limitless, from wineries to hiking trails to antique shops, there is so much to explore. Other things to note The Cottage features an open staircase that leads up to the loft and a propane fireplace that heats the entire space, neither is​ safe for children.
