The space The building (originally a pub for local quarry workers) was built in the late 1800s, with the upper residence added in the 1930s. We've renovated the space with modern comforts while retaining much of the original charm. The interior design aesthetic is a blend of new and funky vintage finds, carefully chosen to be age and gender neutral. With an open floor plan, this suite offers many more amenities than a comparably priced B&B or hotel room in Branford. Stony Creek Depot is a perfect destination for family vacations, bridal parties, corporate and academic professionals who seek fully furnished, inclusive utilities and WiFi. Cable TV includes DVD movies galore as well as premium channels like HBO, Showtime, Encore, and NetFlix access - served by Frontier. Or, turn off the electronics and just sit quietly to read a novel or play a board game. Guest access Shared driveway (first-come, first-served) leads to private, separate entry up one flight of exterior steps onto enormous deck, Tree Fort Suite gives guests exclusive use of the entire 1,000 square-foot living space. Step into the entry hall which leads to a high-ceiling main room with open to the kitchen. Six skylights bring the daylight in, but it's still cozy. Other things to note The corner property is adjacent to railroad tracks (200' from the house), so you may sense the periodic passage of Amtrak and commuter trains. No telephone landline service. Cell signals can drop in "the Creek" - so we've installed a signal booster, which works well for phones using the 4G network since it uses our guest WiFi network to supplement the signal strength. Thimble Islands Road is busy in the summer, as it is the main artery through the village: there are lots of sidewalk strollers and dog walkers headed to enjoy the neighborhood's nature trail and Sound views. There is a skylight over the bed in the master bedroom - which is so wonderful to stargaze, but if you want to sleep in, then you might want to use one of our complimentary sleep masks in the bedside drawer. SECURITY: To promote safe conditions and support our property ownership rights and responsibilities, exterior entryway areas of the property are monitored by motion-activated lighting and cameras. Rest assured, we respect guest privacy during any stay on premises and will readily share information about the camera capabilities with booked guests. We have installed a noise monitor in the unit (as recommended by Airbnb). It does not record audio, but does monitor ambient decibel level and the number of Bluetooth devices in order to detect crowd level. We receive an alert via text if activity exceeds normal levels.
