Oak Tree Cottage - beautiful farm, mountain views.

Oak Tree Cottage is located in Waynesboro, VA at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway meet here, so it's a great place for your family to meet too! The four-bedroom house sits in the edge of the forest, overlooking the open fields of our farm. It's secluded, yet easy to get to, only five miles from Interstate 64. Relax and enjoy nature or head out to explore nearby wineries, breweries, history, biking, hiking or the arts. The space We are adjacent to the George Washington and Jefferson National Forest and the Sherando Lake Recreation Area, and only fourteen miles from the skiing, golfing and tennis at Wintergreen Resort. Yet we are yet so easy to get to -- tucked in the crossroads of Interstates 81 and 64, only five miles from exit 96 on Interstate 64. We are only 27 miles from the University of Virginia and Monticello in Charlottesville, VA and only 150 miles from Washington, DC. Oak Tree Cottage sits in the edge of the forest, overlooking the open fields of our 1,000-acre farm. We have hiking trails, wildlife and bird watching galore, and restored meadows. We have globally-rare wetlands with rare salamanders and plants. In early September, monarch butterflies migrate through the farm. Guest access Oak Tree Cottage is the guest house on our farm. You will have exclusive access to the entire house. The only shared space is the pool and the only other people using the pool would be our family. The first floor of the house has a living room, a full kitchen with island, a large dining table with seating for nine, a glass-walled room that provides a full view of the forest, as well as two bedrooms and a full bath. On the second floor, there are two more bedrooms and another full bath. The house has hot-water-baseboard heat. New for 2020: air conditioning! We also have a private pool available for the use of our guests - it is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day. There is no lifeguard on duty. Other things to note Let me make packing easier! Linens and towels are included, including Lands’ End and Company Store brand sheets and down comforters. There is a washer and dryer in the house. We’ll provide enough laundry detergent to get you started or for emergencies and plenty of dryer sheets. If you plan on doing laundry, you will want to pack more detergent. The kitchen is stocked with everything you will need, including: Aluminum foil, plastic wrap, and food storage containers Olive oil and vegetable oil Salt and pepper Keurig coffee maker as well as a traditional coffee maker and filters Crockpot, blender, toaster oven and traditional toaster Hand soap and liquid dish soap Kitchen towels and sponges The bathrooms are stocked with hand soap, bar soap, hair dryers and first aid kits. You should bring: (We will have some of each of these in the house to get you started. You will want to bring a supply to last your stay.) Dishwasher tablets/detergent Paper towels Trash bags for the kitchen Toilet paper You should also bring your own personal toiletry items, shampoo, toothpaste, etc. Special packing instructions: If you want to walk/hike on the farm, you might want to bring waterproof footwear/boots. If you want to walk at night or look for animals, you may want to bring flashlights.
