Description

Welcome to my Vermont home in the trees. Just a few minutes from the Appalachian trailhead, Bromley, Stratton, and Manchester Center's adorable downtown, your stay here will reconnect you to the nature and activities that define life in the Green Mountain State. This is a home, not just an Airbnb. If you are looking for a hotel, I suggest booking elsewhere. If you seek an authentic Vermont home experience, with a priceless view, please read further... The space The upstairs has the main bedroom, a full bathroom, and an expansive open living room / dining room / kitchen with a large window and a slider to the deck, which looks west toward Mount Equinox and each night's sunset. When the trees have foliage (mid-May to mid-October), our home is totally private, leafy, and feels like a tree house. Hang the hummingbird feeder and watch them go crazy. Make a bonfire and enjoy a barbecue on long summer nights. On still winter nights, the moon lights the snow and you can hear the wind blowing tinkling snowflakes across the landscape. An even clearer view of Mount Equinox comes into view, and Spruce Peak, on the Appalachian Trail, is visible from our skylight. Downstairs, another full bathroom, as well as another living room and three bedrooms, round out the property's interior. We love to come here with our dogs to hike, cook, and hang out in the yard. We think you will too! New for 2026 in response to guest feedback: air-conditioning/dehumidifier heat pumps upstairs and downstairs which I can control remotely when the home is empty to keep humidity low. Guest access Your rental includes access to our home with: - Main bedroom with king bed - 2 Full bathrooms - Upstairs Living room with flat screen TV and joined kitchen/dining area with sliding doors to upstairs deck with barbecue - 3 bedrooms downstairs with bed space for five people. - Downstairs living room with TV - Lower back patio, accessible via two sliders. - Washer and dryer (Not for dog or horse blanket washing.) - Yard with small fenced-in dog area for supervised runs - Small fire circle - EV charger with J1772 connector (bring adapter for Tesla) - Parking for approximately 3 vehicles, with a pulloff on the street. Other things to note Our home is rustic and in the woods. At certain times of the year, field mice attempt to enter the home looking for food, so storing food at nights in cabinets is crucial. Bears roam during warm months, so trash must be safely stored in shed compartments. We greatly appreciate your help following our unique power use guidelines to ameliorate the high price of Green Mountain Power electricity from 1-9 PM on weekedays. Please limit the use of electric baseboard heaters (dials on the walls) and instead heat the house mostly with the upstairs gas heater, the downstairs heat pump, and ceiling fans. The baseboards are best used only overnight when bedroom doors are closed. In summer, the air conditioners can also be used on dry / dehumidify mode to lower humidity in the house.
