A 40" Smart TV, Cable, PVR, Internet, full bathroom, with shower and plenty of bath and beach towels. The space Apartment sized washer and dryer. Free standing cast iron propane fireplace for those cozy nights. Your own private entrance with deck and Napolean barbeque. French doors opening off the dining area onto your private lawn overlooking the ocean; enjoy your meals to the sound of the water lapping onto the shore below. Kayaks available for your use to explore the abundant wildlife and beauty of Maple Bay, witness seals, otters, herons, eagles, and whales (occasionally we're lucky enough to have Orcas in the Bay). The unit also has a heat pump for quiet heating and cooling. Maple Mountain is right out the back door with several well marked hiking trails, exposing magnificent vistas of Salt Spring island, Maple and Cowichan Bays, Quamichan lake, and in the distance Victoria and the Olympic Mountain range. Within walking distance is an excellent Scotish Pub overlooking the Bay, boasting local craft beers, great food, and live music. Close by are both Maple Bay marina with restaurant and coffee shop, and Poet's Cove marina. Paddle board, and kayak rentals are just in the Bay. Maple Bay beach is truly one of the nicest in the south island area. Very quaint and quiet neighborhood with a unique charm. Also in walking distance are tennis courts, pickle ball courts, and yoga. The Cowichan Valley's name means warmland. The valley is proud to have the longest growing season of anywhere else in Canada. The abundance of fantastic local foods, wines, craft beers and artisans make this a must stop place to enjoy your vacation. The valley is home to several wineries, a full day can be spent traveling the area experiencing wine tastings. Each Saturday year round, the Duncan outdoor market draws people from all over the island and abroad. Salt Spring Saturday market is also just a short ferry ride away. Westholme Tea Farm is the only place in Canada growing its own local teas, with a teahouse and site tours. Merrydale Cidery grows and produces its own ciders and is an excellent place for lunch and a picnic on the grounds. Genoa Bay farm a mere 5km away has Wednesday night pizza night, with an outdoor pizza oven and an experience not to be missed. Glenora farms is yet another of the valley's organic farm to table restaurants. Envision seeing pallets of home grown tomatoes, while nearby an outdoor cauldron boils with fresh homemade tomato soups and pasta sauce. Several of the surrounding areas provide hiking, biking and walking trails. Two fresh water lakes, Shawnigan and Cowichan are the perfect places for fresh water activities. The Koksilah and Cowichan rivers flow through the valley,; in the fall the salmon run brings in the bald eagles in proliferation. Both of these rivers in the summers are wonderful places to swim, cool off and enjoy. Whale watching tours, fishing charters are all nearby in Cowichan Bay. Shopping, antiquing, golfing, bird watching,museums, art studios, dining and warm friendly people are just a few of the other attractions that the Cowichan Valley and Maple Bay have to offer.
