SHORE LEAVE - Your Private Waterfront Escape
Nestled in the heart of historic Ticonderoga, where Lake George flows into Lake Champlain via La Chute River, our private three-level home boasts 165' of waterfront and panoramic south-facing views of uninhabited park land. Moments away from restaurants, shops and attractions, but with the feeling of being worlds away. "Shore Leave" is your relaxing getaway with plenty of year round family fun. Come enjoy all the Adirondacks have to offer. The main floor of this quirky old house (street level) features a cozy living room with gas fireplace and Fire TV, a large kitchen, dining room, a half-bath, and a side entry way/mud room/"corner office" with river views. From the dining room, sliding glass doors lead to the sun room with vaulted ceilings, windows on three sides, and plenty of space for family and friends to gather. Play the piano, play a board game, or just play hooky from life while taking in the calming views. Upstairs you'll find two bedrooms and a full bathroom. One bedroom has a Queen Bed, Fire TV, two large closets and a dresser. The other, in addition to weird sloped old-house floors, has a Twin-over-Full Bunk Bed, and a small futon, too. A Travel Crib with 5" mattress is also available upon request. The Lower Level of the house is almost its own apartment! Tucked away is the very private third bedroom of the house, with a Full Size bed, Fire TV and a quiet spot to read. Also on the lower level is a kitchenette including a refrigerator, electric range, and other necessities. A (very) small bathroom with a full shower and the laundry area is also downstairs. (*Please note* Access to the lower level is via either a steep interior staircase from the main level's half bath, then some larger steps around a corner, past the laundry to get to the living area, OR via an exterior staircase from the sunroom to the backyard, and then in through the lower back exterior door. Be careful and hold handrails on all stairs! If anyone in your group has mobility issues, please contact us before booking!) Emerge from the lower level, or descend the exterior stairs from the sun room's deck, onto the large private yard. So much space to run and play! In warmer months, enjoy kayaking right from the backyard, or cool off on the BRAND NEW (2022) deck! There is a playground and outdoor toys for the kids and a BRAND NEW (2022) firepit for s'mores and chilly nights. There is a propane BBQ grill available for your use as well. In Winter, a good snowfall will beckon you to our own little sledding hill (the yard is mostly flat, but there's a nice little section that is sloped). Of course Ticonderoga's Bicentennial Park has awesome hills for sledding too! Speaking of which, the surrounding area features so much to see and do! ***Please Check with individual businesses and attractions for current operating dates and hours*** Nearby Attractions include: Star Trek Original Series Set Tour Ticonderoga Golf Course LaChute River Walk Trail Lake George Boat Launch Fort Ticonderoga Bicentennial Park Bicentennial Falls Black Point Beach (swimming beach on Lake George) Vermont Ferry Great local eateries and shops Skiing, about an hour away in multiple directions Amtrak Station and more...!!! Also, we are on LaChute River, which flows from the northern end and outlet of Lake George into Lake Champlain through many falls and rapids. The river drops about 230 feet in its three and a half-mile course (a larger drop than Niagara Falls!) Because our property lies in between dams, there is NO ACCESS for larger boats. Boat launches for Lake George and Lake Champlain are not too far away though. Pets are strictly not allowed. Please find other accommodations for your fur/scaled/feathered babies, even the most well behaved ones. Please, no smoking of ANY kind inside the house. And if you must smoke outdoors, please clean up after yourself. Firewood is not provided. If a previous guest has left some behind, please help yourself, and pay it forward if you're so inclined! Thank you!
