A few additions to the accommodations have been made in the last year in response to guests’ suggestions and other circumstances, including a gas cooking grill on the rear deck, new mattresses in 3 of the 4 bedrooms, and a large screen television and ping pong table in the first floor family room. Spectrum’s extension of services to Bald Head Island now thankfully provides cable TV & reliable Wi-Fi. Recent acquisition of an adjacent lot gives the house access to the shore of Cape Creek and an additional half-acre of mature maritime forest, allowing passage across the island from Cape Creek to Bald Head Creek, via the near-by Middle Island creek dock. We appreciate guests’ interest in and respect for the unique Smith Island environment, and our island home. Middle Island looks and feels like the Bald Head of the 1980s with unpaved roads, large lots and acres of undeveloped forest. In this sense 28 Dogwood Ridge has special appeal to guests familiar with the island, now comfortable away from the bustle - in the midst of nature. Management company available 24/7 on the island There are no vehicles allowed on the island. You catch the ferry in Southport, NC and take a 20 minute ferry ride over to the island. Once you arrive on the island the tram will take you and your luggage to your rental property and will pick you up upon departure. Every house comes with at least one golf cart for exploring the island. Walking and biking are also island favorites. Book trams early as they fill up quickly in the peak season Keys will be on counter and house unlocked upon arrival
