Historic Railcar in Pristine Doe River Gorge

What truly makes this a memorable experience is the location. Situated on a sidetrack, just steps away from the original ET&WNC historic railroad, this renovated 1940s railcar is the perfect place for a unique getaway. This cozy railcar is nestled in the pristine Doe River Gorge in Hampton, Tennessee. Here, you’ll have access to 3 miles of private land along the Doe River with miles of hiking trails, scenic views and great fishing spots for rainbow/brown trout and small mouth bass. The space This unique 1940’s railroad sleepaway car was used by crew members who were working on railroad tracks throughout the United States from the 1940s to 1980s. This cozy space has a bright living room with a loveseat, two chairs, a mini fridge, microwave, and small coffee bar. Off the living room are berths that can sleep up to eight people. Due to limited space in a railcar, it is most comfortable for two to four guests. The bathroom has two showers (each with a private dressing room), two sinks and a water closet. Enjoy access to an array of outdoor experiences including a historic 140-year old tunnel less than 200ft from your front door! You also have the option to book a private roundtrip excursion on the historic ET&WNC railroad (1-hour excursion for $100, max 8 people). The rail motor car will take you through two 140-year-old tunnels where you’ll gain access to majestic scenery and rare geological formations along the Doe River. Other things to note Throughout the property you’ll have access to various activities including miles of hiking trails, fishing spots, a covered outdoor game area with ping-pong tables, foosball, chess and a jumbo-sized Jenga and Connect Four. There are also two octoball courts and a sand volleyball court. *Please note: There are several lodges throughout the property that are available for groups rentals and retreats. During your stay there may be large groups and events/meetings taking place on the property near the railcar. If you're looking for a completely private property and/or a secluded stay, this may not be the best option. *Please note: There are outdoor stairs throughout the property that may become slick/icy in cold weather.
