Enjoy preparing meals in the fully equipped kitchen. The living area is a wonderful place to spend time as you snuggle up by the stone gas fireplace (operational October -March ) on the leather sofa or comfy recliner and enjoy a DVD on the Blue-ray player from our collection, a movie via Netflix, or your favorite TV show on the 50 inch flat screen TV. The main level also features a game room with a full size pool table and game table. Games, playing cards and puzzles are provided for your convenience. Relax and enjoy the beautiful views from the log rockers or the porch swing. The lower level provides a romantic setting for two: Watch your favorite movies from the comfortable king size log canopy bed on the 40 inch flat screen TV above a second cozy gas fireplace (operational October-March). A private area with Jacuzzi tub is just off the bedroom, as well as a large master bath with an over sized shower. There is a lower deck off the bedroom area where you will enjoy spending time in a large inviting hot tub while enjoying the lights of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge by night and the aerial tram and beautiful mountain views by day. You can plan a private cookout for two on the park-style charcoal grill located near the entry of the cabin. If you choose to go out for dinner, you will find excellent dining choices just a few miles down the mountain in downtown Gatlinburg or at Ober Gatlinburg. You may choose to drive a very short distance and park at Ober Gatlinburg and ride the scenic Aerial Tram down the mountain to dine or shop in the many unique shops downtown. As a member of Chalet Village Owner's Club please use our membership card provided for access to three club houses on the mountain, each with pools (seasonal), and recreational areas. This card also offers discounts at numerous attractions and restaurants in the Gatlinburg area. Since this is a private cabin, we rarely get the opportunity to meet our guests in person, but we enjoy the personal touch we can offer guests via email, texts and phone conversations. Because we are so familiar with Gatlinburg, the national park, the hiking trails and the many attractions in the area, we enjoy helping travelers with their plans when needed and making new acquaintances. We quickly decided that the Chalet Village community on Ski Mountain was the place for us with its unique Bavarian flair and quaint cabins and chalets scattered across the mountainside! Of even greater importance was the close proximity to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Our front door is located less than twenty steps from the park boundary and is within walking distance to one of the many beautiful trails open to visitors of the park. We immediately fell in love with the beautiful views from both the upper and lower covered porches of the cabin especially when the Ober Gatlinburg tram passed by with screams of excitement as passengers topped the highest tower! In the other direction through the park forest we have seasonal views of the three distinct towering peaks of Mt. LeConte! We truly have a panoramic view, especially from late fall to early spring when the leaves are off of the trees. We enjoy the abundance of wildlife that is literally in our backyard and often delight in seeing mother bear and cubs passing through on their daily rounds to and from the park. There was never a doubt in our minds that this was the perfect getaway location! This truly is our 'Smoky Mountain High'! Gatlinburg is one of the busiest tourist towns in the nation especially during the peak touring seasons. Luckily Gatlinburg offers several helpful solutions: Many visitors turn to Gatlinburg's famous trolley system to get around to their favorite destinations. There are several lines that shuttle visitors to and from over 100 sites in the city. These trolleys also serve Pigeon Forge and Sevierville. They are inexpensive and an all day trolley pass can be the best choice to get the most out of your excursions. A map of the various trolley lines has been placed in a visitor's information guide in the cabin for your convenience. There are also several rental car companies in the area if having your own personal transportation is a must. Because the cabin is located very near Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort and Amusement Park, you may choose to drive the short distance and hop on the Aerial Tramway that will take you on an extraordinarily scenic ride to and from Gatlinburg! Your ticket is valid for two days of unlimited rides except during ski season when tickets provide guests with a one day pass of unlimited rides. We strive to include everything that our guests could desire at Smoky Mountain High Cabin. Sitting high atop the ridge, it offers views of Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and the Tram to the north and the majestic towering Mt LeConte through the bordering National Park to the east and south (especially November-March when the leaves are off of the trees). We provide a detailed notebook for your convenience and brochures describing the many activities in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park available during your stay. We are high atop Ski Mountain near the ski resort, Ober Gatlinburg, so it is important to note that you will be traveling on mountain roads to reach our elevation. The roads are in good shape, well-traveled, well-maintained by the city of Gatlinburg and do not require a 4WD vehicle unless a winter weather event occurs before or during your stay. Should roads become snow-covered, 4WD will be necessary to navigate the mountain roads. If you are lucky enough to experience the beauty of a Smoky Mountain snowfall, you will enjoy the gorgeous snow-capped mountain views and fun that await you! Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort offers skiing, snowboarding, tubing and year round ice skating and is just a mile away!
