The Blue Bear is a quiet, comfortable home base for your outdoor adventures and a peaceful place to reconnect with family and friends. Located a few miles outside of Cedaredge on the southern slope of the Grand Mesa, convenient to nordic and alpine skiing, hiking and fishing. Watch deer stroll through your amazing view of the Mesa during the day, and enjoy awesome stargazing around the firepit at night. We lived in the cabin while building our retirement home on the property, and we've kept it much the same for our guests. In the kitchen you'll find a crockpot, instant pot, blender, waffle iron, toaster, a wide assortment of pot and pans, and many other cooking tools. There are lots of games and activities in the living room trunk. Light a fire in the pellet stove on cold evenings, or rely on the hallway furnace and baseboard heaters. In warm weather you can enjoy the screened-in sun porch or the propane fire pit on the flagstone patio. There's even a hammock for the truly lazy days of summer. The cabin sleeps four comfortably; five if one is a child between 2 and 7 sleeping on the Regalo My Cot. The entire cabin and environs are for your use. The 10-acre lot (shared with our house) is bordered by Timothy Rd. to the north, the fence line to the east in back of the cabin, and the fence line running along the west side at the entry to the property. The south side has no fence, but if you reach the neighbor's house you've gone too far. :) We try not to interfere with our guests, but we live nearby on the property and are available should you need anything. The Grand Mesa is a beautiful place to hike, ski, snowshoe, ride your ATV, or hunt. The town of Cedaredge has a great little grocery store and a few restaurants you'll want to try. Also worth a visit is Pioneer Town - Cedaredge's museum in the form of an old west main street. This a rural area, so a car is necessary. You certainly can ride a bike down to town, but the climb back up is not as fun. If you plan to bring a pet, please review the house rules prior to booking. There is plenty of room to park a trailer. And no special vehicle is necessary to access the cabin; roads are plowed and slopes are gentle right to the front door. For our guests who are staying more than seven nights, we offer a complimentary linen change and light cleaning at the halfway point, or every seven days. Arrange a four-hour window with us.
