Light is provided by 2 lanterns, very primitive, and pioneer like, but practical and comfortable. Access to close by heated outbuilding with electricity, lights, flush toilets, and hot showers, hot water. Water is nice and drinkable. Beddings, towels, toiletries, kettle, fire tongue, dishes, lanterns, breakfast can be ordered. Communal hot tub/Sauna. You can bring your own firewood or purchase it here $10 per bundle. There is wifi in the property closer to the main lodge. 1 car spot The space A tiny cabin made of wood in the woods with beds, beddings, a wood stove, and some pot and pan and enamel dishes and cutleries walking a short distance to a communal detached heated wash facility, commune spa, trails, and parking. Like any other house, you have neighbors that are 200 feet away, if you like to have no visible neighbors Spruce is the right cabin for you. No EMF! The harmful Electromagnetic Field causes all the diseases. The idea is "Disconnect to connect!" which is the purpose of going to the forest and forest bathing, getting the good energy from nature. No WIFI is provided in the area if you need to access the WIFI you can get close to the main lodge. The House Manual is mandatory to read before arrival! Access to fire-heated 3-season cedar hot tub and 4-season fire heated Sauna. Sauna is heated by yourself, the hot tub is needs 24-48 hours preheating and has a $40 fee one-time fee, you can bring your own firewood or purchase here (spa facility usage is by appointment and privately used so it requires booking in advance). Trails, and other outdoor areas such as game fields, paddle boat, shared outdoor kitchen with wood fired oven, canoe rental with extra fee, Wifi is accessible closer to the main lodge. Other things to note After GPS brings you to Markdale! Read the directions and follow, please. Firewood is available to purchase $10 per bundle. Have change for firewood. The pet fee is $30/pet per stay. If you need an early check-in and or late check-out it’s possible to arrange it with us in advance and there is an extra fee for that $25/hour for up to 2 people and $10/hour per person above two people. Extra guest fee $70 per person per night. Gates would be closed 11 pm to 7 am. We are taking extra care to disinfect your space due to COVID-19. Also during this time, you need an appointment for spa use since it has been privately used only. You're very welcome to our natural forest retreat. This is a music & alcohol-free zone for everyone's enjoyment, so please keep your music and your way of enjoyment to yourself inside your cabin. Here you can have peace in the heart of nature, enjoy the firewood-heated sauna and hot tub, and listen to nature. Put this address into your GPS but follow the directions provided in the manual to find the right place, some GPS take you to our neighbors who are not very friendly. Check-in 4:00 pm Checkout 11:00 am Breakfast 9:00 am (if ordered and paid for) Public Transportation, Union Station to Orangeville, and shuttle from there to Markdale. Or by car; use the GPS with the provided address and also follow the directions provided in the manual to find your spot. The door is unlocked for you, lock is inside with the key, if you need to lock it while you are out, use the lock and the key, and make sure you give the cabin back as you found it, key and lock on the table and door shut and unlock. Breakfast will be delivered to your door (if ordered) and baskets will be collected at 11:00 am. You can make your meals in the kitchen or request and pay in advance ($10/per person breakfast $25/meal per person lunch or dinner excluded). Breakfast usually includes coffee & tea, fruits, and a fried egg sandwich (if you have a special diet and this won’t work for you let us know in advance) Early check-in or late check-out is a possibility if pre-arranged for $25 per hour for up to two people and $10/hour per person above two people (arrange this with us) Dog fee $30 (arrange this with us) Hot Tub (3 seasons, fire heated and requires preheating, $40 one-time fee) sauna (all season, fire heated, no charge) heat up including the firewood is your responsibility, and firewood is not included in your accommodation cost, have cash to buy firewood here and let us know in advance to bag them for you. Your bedding, towels, dishes, kettle, lantern, and fire tongue are inside your cabin, Toiletries are provided in the utility building. Water in the utility building is drinkable and nice. ——————————— Cabin living tips: - There is no electricity in the cabin, heat, and cooking is by wood stove, and light is provided by lanterns, bring your cooler for storing food, grill basket/pot/pan/heat protection glove for cooking. - Take your shoes off and wear your slippers. - For heat or cooking; start the fire in the wood stove with a fire starter/cardboard underneath (avoid using gasoline or chemical liquid) then put the kindling and lastly add pieces of small logs on top and start the fire, and When fire gets going close the stove door. - Save the lantern battery by turning them off when they are not needed. —————————— RULES (Must Be Followed): 1- Do not put anything on top of the wood stove unless it’s metal and you are using it for cooking. A kettle that we provide is safe to be used on the wood stove. 2- Garbage must be separated to compost, recycle, and litter DO NOT MIX, use plastic bags to separate them, and leave them in the outdoor beans at the middle of the village before you check out. DO NOT THROW any garbage on the ground including cigarette butts! 3- Please be considerate about your use of the beds, pick which bed you are going to sleep in and keep the rest intact. If you are using the lower bunk bed for sitting do not remove the cover. 4- Hot tub is 3 seasons when the temperature is above zero (For winter holidays we try to have the hot tub available ask about it.). Before using the hot tub please be considerate and take a shower, if your one-time usage causes the need to change the water an extra $200 charge may apply, close the lid after your use. 5-Do not collect wood from the property at all, or you will get a $50-$1000 fine depending on the damage amount. 6- Please clean after yourself in the facility building, wash your dishes before you leave and dry them, and leave everything the way you received them intact in your cabin before your check out. 7- If using the shared kitchen please put back any dish you use for cooking immediately where you found them nice and clean for others. 8- This is a quiet Eco-Retreat keep it quiet, peaceful, and clean for other villagers or we have the right to remove the outlaws group from the property. 9- DO NOT move the picnic tables! Generally, any of the unfollowed rules cause extra jobs for our staff and additional costs so if that happens additional charges will be applied to your credit card. 10- We do not allow unpaid visitors, arrange with us if you are inviting guests to the property or you will have to pay a penalty on top of the guest fee. Help us to save your security deposit by following the house rules, and cleanliness, and do not leave mixed garbage behind. —————————— What we provide: Beddings, towels, toiletries, kettle, enamel dishes, cutlery, lantern, fire tongs, breakfast items in the shared outdoor kitchen, breakfast or other meals (if ordered). ——————————— What you bring with you: - Your own grilling basket/skewers, Pot/Pan, heat-proof glove - Firewood & kindling & Matches (you can also buy firewood here at the property) - Food that can be cooked on fire or in the kitchen. - Cooler to keep your food safe. - Can opener - Salt&pepper/ seasoning/ oil/ foil/heatproof gloves if you need - Your doggie bowls and bags - Flashlight - Cell phone battery pack - Bathing suit for Spa if you wish to use & plastic sleepers The spa heating and the firewood needed for that is the guests' responsibility, The hot tub requires 24-48 hours of heating depending on the season and there is a $40 fee for its use sauna is fire-heated and takes 45 mins to heat up, so start 1 hour earlier than your appointment time. Other than here, firewood can be purchased in gas stations or Food Land close by (open till 12:00 am). If you need firewood to be provided to you at the site, let us know ($10 per bundle) and have cash with you. This is a conservation area; Please do not touch the trees even if they are broken or fallen, there will be a PENALTY for those who don't follow this rule. ——————————— Wintertime tips: The hot tub is not available during winter when the temperature is steadily cold, which usually happens in January. Make sure you have winter tires/chains on tires, if you are not experienced driving in snow or during snow storms be prepared to park your car at the basketball court and walk to your accommodation. Have all the equipment that you may need in your car and CAA membership handy. We have radiant propane heaters that could be rented for $45 per stay (weekend) let us know if you need one. —————————— Garbage instructions: We separate garbage into 3 categories: Food/Organic Recycle Garbage/litter 3 bins are provided in the common area, please pay attention and sort them properly. —————————— On-site activities depending on the time of trip vary during spring, summer, and fall; hiking, star gazing, listening to amazing spring peeper frogs around the pond, wood-burning heated sauna / hot tub (heat it up yourself), tubing in the river behind the tipis (bring your own tube, and do it under your own responsibility), outdoor games (badminton/basketball; bring your own ball and racket), seasonal shared kitchen wood fire oven for pizza, photography, painting, enjoy the coziness of your cabin wood stove or socialize around the shared outdoor bonfire with other villagers and prepare fire-cooked food. Winter; hiking/ snow-shoeing (bring your snow shoes or rent here and do not trespass to other properties follow the red tapes for trails), photography, sauna, hot tub (bring your swimming suits and firewood) Property Trails are marked with red tape and boundary of the property are marked with orange string. Around here activities: 2 close by lakes within 5 5-minute drive Townsend Lake (swimming or paddling), and Bells Lake (canoeing, kayaking you can rent the canoe here).
