Enjoy this Cozy Cottage nestled in the foothills of New Market, AL. Surrounded by mountainous views and wide open farmland, this get away is a perfect distance from ‘town’. Whether you’re sipping coffee on the front porch as the sun rises, or stargazing on the back deck on a cool evening, the experience will take you back to slower, more peaceful, days. Free WiFi. Rustic exterior, read more in ‘the space’ section. The space Guests are welcome to utilize the entire house, back deck, and smoker/grill. Enjoy family time in either side yard with folding chairs, an umbrella and outdoor games stored in the sunroom/laundry room. Please excuse the cottage’s VERY rustic exterior. It has its original siding (75+yrs old) and trim, with chipped paint and older wood in some places. A full exterior remodel is in the works. But make no mistake, the interior is fully renovated, super clean, and very cozy. We kept the original wood floors, cast iron tub, and at least one original window per room to add charm! We’re sure you’ll love the cottages heart and the experience you feel star gazing at night. Don’t forget to make time to sit on the back deck with a cup of coffee. The peace and quiet heals souls! Guest access Guests have access to the entire home and back deck. Property line borders gravel road off of back deck and tree lined creek. Please do not explore farmland across gravel road nor the actual creek. Other things to note This property sits just off of a favorite local road. The countryside is so peaceful and still that motorcyclists, logging trucks and locals can be heard driving past the cottage on the main road. During school days, the neighborhood school bus has permission to utilize the long gravel road along the back border of the property. You may hear it drive by two times a day as it picks up neighborhood children. Our neighbors and locals are friendly country folk. Don’t be surprised if you’re met with a smile and a wave whenever they drive past the cottage. We have no doubt you’ll love the peace and quiet of the cottage! In full disclosure, the cottage’s VERY rustic 75yr old original exterior is definitely in need of some TLC. We hope to remodel the siding and replace rotted wood in some places very soon. However the fully remodeled interior, with recent paint touch up’s, holds the heart and charm! At least one window per room is newer and operable to let in fresh air as you like, but one window per room is a 75yr old original, painted shut over the years. The cottage utilizes two window units (one in the living room and one in the main bedroom) to effectively cool the house during warmer months and two floor space heaters to keep everyone cozy during winter months. To allow proper heating/cooling circulation, bedroom 2 utilizes a thick curtain as a door for now. A custom ventilated door is currently in the works.
