Hawkwood House King Bedroom

Hawkwood House is close to Charlottesville, VA. It is in a 100-acre wood. Two guests share downstairs bedroom. Guests may use upper floor only with prior arrangements. It is a very quiet, peaceful setting. It is located near historic sites from colonial times of the United States and the Civil War and near Charlottesville VA and homes to three early US presidents (Monticello, Ash Lawn and Montpelier). The space This space is unique because of its very peaceful and beautiful setting. The house is oriented toward the south, so there is abundant light inside. The location is close to hiking, kayaking, fishing, and many sites of historical interest, including Monticello, Montpelier and Ash Lawn/Highlands. The University of Virginia is located in Charlottesville. The house has 3 bedrooms plus a loft. If you book the house as one or two people, you sleep together in the downstairs king bedroom. The additional rooms are not rented separately, so you have privacy. However, if you wish to have two separate bedrooms, or want to invite someone else to stay at your discretion, there are two additional rooms with full size beds. There is an additional charge for that, at $30 per night per person. The Rivanna River is 4 miles away, for kayaking. The fantastic James River is 30-45 minutes. There are hiking trails, including the Appalachian Trail (60 minutes to Rockfish Gap) and the Pleasant Grove Park. The transcontinental bike trail is 4 miles away, passing through the village of Palmyra. You’ll love the place because of the large deck, ramp if you need to avoid stairs (downstairs bedroom), and beautiful garden/woodland setting Hawkwood House is good for couples, adventurers, hikers, boaters and fishermen, and travelers who want a quiet place. Put-in for kayaks is available for a local float with prior arrangements. Guest access There is a short flight of 6 steps to the front door main floor. A ramp is also present. There are rooms on either the ground and second floor. The main floor has a very comfortable king bed. There are 2 bedrooms on the second floor, with full beds, if there are additional guests in your party. These rooms are not rented separately, except at your discretion. There is one upstairs bathroom with a tub. The downstairs bathroom has a spacious shower and a laundry. There is a large deck overlooking a meadow and woods. There is plenty of parking, but no public transportation out in the country. The whole house is not wheel-chair accessible, but there is a ramp to the deck and access to the main floor. The shower has a hand-held wand and two small bench seats. The living room, kitchen, and outdoor areas are included in the listing. Other things to note There is a cat living at the studio next door who may try to dart in. Please try to keep him out of the house. There is a backup generator to keep things humming if there is a power outage: caused in winter, from snow, and in summer, from thunderstorms/wind storms. Please keep the gates closed. You may not use the upper floor. Except by prior arrangement. There are curtains only in the main bedroom to create an open feeling.
