IN TOWN Disinfected between guests. 9 miles: West Gateway to Park WALK to grocery store, tourist shops, restaurants A/C upstairs wall unit cools whole house Fireworks continue the week of July 4th The house is yours to enjoy while visiting Hungry Horse/Glacier National Park and Whitefish (for Casey's nightclub, and for upscale dining). Upstairs a small deck with 2 outside chairs looks over the trees toward the mountain. The air conditioner is a new wall unit for the upstairs living room. Since it's normally in the 50's at night, we open windows a while in the evening for a very cool house. The water in Hungry Horse is good, no need for bottled water. There is a computer cabinet with a chair for your laptop upstairs. Noise: Fireworks sold and used from here to the Park week of July 4. There is a hum of traffic when outside as people travel to and from the Park, quiet inside. Storage space: Since we do live here much of the year, a closet upstairs and in hallway are locked . We’ve left you the double closet in the bedroom plus a chest with 6 drawers (seen in pic) and cabinets above the chest of drawers for plenty of shelf space. We think you will find this very comfortable. I do hope this is what you are looking for while booking your trip to beautiful Montana. We spend the summer out of town, easily accessible via email with the added convenience of nice neighbors who watch over our places, and one has access to our supply garage if you need anything. The Gateway to Glacier National Park is a left turn from hwy 2. That’s 8 miles from the house. Heading north Use your favorite search engine for tours in Park, X-country skiing, snow cats, horse back riding, golf, fishing, scenic plane rides. Be sure to visit Hungry Horse Dam, Lions Lake on way. Hike, snowshoe or ski by dam. Grocery store/laundromat/post office/tourist shop are within 5 min walk. Working class neighborhood with friendly neighbors. Neighbors across the street own their own trailers, like many in Montana. Our choice for breakfast is The BackRoom in Columbia Falls (6 minutes) if The Big Bear, walking distance, offering $5 breakfast sandwiches isn’t open. Our neighbor goes to Montana Coffee Traders, also good. Dan d’Lion is the new vegan restaurant in Hungry Horse, closed a few winter months. We prefer Willows Huckleberry Land instead of Huckleberry Patch for the huck pies, better crust. The Patch has better shop. Columbia Fall is home to the Backslope Brewing Company offering their own brews with food. You can taste all their brews for free, before choosing. The Whiskey Barn has samples, $2 each, from their distillery. (Summer only) On way to Park, on right, Paul Bunyan or Packers Roost are local beer/burger joints. Packers is our fav. Looks rough but you’ll find age 2 - 80 there, friendly. Waygu beef from Japan is $124/lb on Amazon. Grown locally you’ll find it around $30lb. Gunslinger Saloon in Columbia Falls was selling Waygu burgers last time I visited, also can buy steaks at Prime Cuts, or frozen at Flathead Fish & Seafood, Columbia Falls. American Indian fried bread is served with dinner at the Night Owl, one of the few places left serving this delicious bread. ..year round locals luv and support this place, reviews, mixed Steak, go to Jagz, just past the airport, year round. Many bike/hiking trails in the Park and around Polebrige. Park Rangers will recommend trails for all abilities. Be sure to stop in the Information/Visitor Center a few miles into the Park. Get an early start for Going To The Sun Road, to avoid traffic. No unauthorized persons on property or in house. Maximum occupancy is 2 people, both over age 25. There is only the one queen bed for sleeping. No sofa available for sleeping. Because this is our home most of the year and owner is allergic to animals, (migraines), please do not bring furry friends.
