The house is perched on a hill above Hatillo, with spectacular views of Playa Guapil to the south and Manuel Antonio National Park to the north. Although you are close to the village, the house feels absolutely secluded. When you enter the house, you enter a large modern open plan living space with fully equipped kitchen and access to the guest bathroom. The front of the house can be opened to the patio and pool area. We have plenty of books and board games: feel free to make use of them. There is also a movable desk with a 4K monitor, which can be freely moved around the house. On the left of the house is the master bedroom with tall glass windows providing spectacular views of the landscape to the front and rainforest scenery to the left. When lying in bed at night with the curtains open, you can gaze the stars and occasionally watch lightning over the sea. The master bathroom is connected to an ensuite bathroom with rain shower. On the right of the house is the second bedroom with tall glass windows and king-sized double bed. The 3rd bedroom is ideal for children with a double bunk bed. Both bedrooms are connected by a Jack and Jill bathroom with a rain shower. The property has a laundry room with a washing machine and tumble dryer that is accessible from the driveway. Guests have full access to the entire house, pool and gardens. The house is located in a secure and gated community: guests will receive a clicker to open the gate to the Vista Azul estate, which works even if there is a power outage. From the gate there is a 1 km drive on a private road to the house: the first 700 metres of the drive is a flat gravel road, followed by 100 meters at 30 degree elevation. The last 200 metres is a steep concrete road leading to the property. Driving to the house is easily doable without a 4x4, but drivers unused to Costa Rican roads may prefer a 4x4, particularly during the green season. The concierge and management team are always available during your stay. Villa Vista Azul is located in the hills above Hatillo, Savegre, a quiet village with two supermarkets and two restaurants. The house is 8 km from Dominical, located on Costa Rica's amazingly beautiful South Pacific coastline. Dominical is a hidden paradise with something for everyone. There are shops, markets, restaurants, bars, hotels, yoga and surf schools, a gym and some amazing natural scenery and adventures. Dominical is known to have some of the best surf in the country. With its stunning backdrop of lush green forests and palm trees, this beach is also a great place to bird watch or take a canopy tour of the surrounding locale. Besides Dominical beach, the house is close to other beaches perfect for those looking to relax or those looking to surf. 5 km from the house is Playa Linda, one of the most beautiful and quiet beaches in the area. Other beaches within 20 km of the house are Playa Guapil, Playa Dominical, Playa Dominicalito and Playa Hermosa. Only 30-45 minute’s drive from the house, you can easily visit two amazing national parks (Manuel Antonio and Marino Ballena in Uvita), some breath-taking waterfalls - most notably Nauyaca waterfalls, great rivers for rafting, and many other great nature and adventure tours. Manuel Antonio and Marino Ballena National Park are equipped with shower and changing facilities, allowing you to explore Manuel Antonio and Uvita after you visited the park. If you feel adventurous, plan a day-trip to Los Quetzales National Park: it’s an amazing and enchanting cloud forest where you will see many bromeliads and birds. The drive is 2-2.5 hours one way. A taxi service is available in Dominical, but it is best to hire a car when exploring the Southern Pacific coast. Juan Santamaría International Airport is 2.5 – 3.5 hours of drive from the villa. Esteban, our property manager will greet you and ensure that everything runs smoothly during your stay. Wildlife: you will frequently see birds and butterflies in the vicinity of the house. Many of the plants planted close to the house attract hummingbirds, which frequently visit the gardens. Other frequent visitors are the Great Kiskadee and the Yellow-throated Toucan. In the morning you can see Black Vultures soar in spiral group formation making use of the thermal lift. Occasionally, you can see Eagles and Green Parrots. We also have a family of Cappuccino Monkeys living in the upper part of the property. Sometimes they can be seen from the driveway and in very rare occasions near the house. Other mammals we have seen are the Variegated Squirrel and the Northern Tamandua (Lesser Anteater). The gardens: the property is surrounded by jungle, some of which has been converted to garden. When you drive into the driveway you will see a huge Guanacaste tree at the end of the driveway (facing south). The south side of the garden is mainly jungle leading from a ravine up all the way to the top of the property. The lower hill garden is made up of terraces planted with climbers, palms, tree ferns, giant ferns and other ornamental plants. The upper hill garden contains flowering trees, but is not yet fully developed. On the pool-side of the house there are different areas: in front of the pool are various palms and sun-loving orchids such as Vanda’s and large bromeliads. Next to the bedrooms are unusual bromeliads, palms ferns and gingers. The areas beyond the lawn are mostly Heliconias, gingers and other local plants that attract hummingbirds and butterflies.
