Perfect for writers, musicians, retreaters, nature lovers, & sanctuary seekers—The Bear Creek Cabin is nestled on 100 acres of private land that is shared with deer, owls, hawks, foxes, squirrels, salamanders, and banana slugs. The cabin is a one-bedroom studio, with a full kitchen, full bath, and a comfy double bed that overlooks Bear Creek. You will be tucked in a mature forest in a very remote area of the Santa Cruz Mountains, so be ready to unplug for some serenity and forest magic. The space This gorgeous Bear Creek Cabin has everything you need (except food and personal toiletries). It is filled with beautiful natural light through the skylights, vaulted ceilings, and expansive windows. It is completely off grid and powered through solar, and a wood stove for heat. This serene space is TV/WiFi free. It is truly a perfect little nest in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Guest access The Bear Creek Cabin is located on 100 acres, has its own private drive with a padlocked gate and a lockbox on the door, so you can come and go with ease. Both combinations will be provided before your stay. While here, follow the footpath from the cabin down to the creek and you’ll find huge boulders, redwoods, solace and privacy. The only company you’ll have are the woodland animals and of course our infamous banana slugs! Other things to note You will be about a 30 minute drive to some stunning destinations: Henry Cowell, Castle Rock, and Big Basin State Parks and several quaint little towns all along Hwy 9 which drops you into Santa Cruz—the coolest beach town in California! The Giant Sequoia Redwoods are a must see while you’re here, and if you have time, a day trip down to the Monterey Bay Aquarium is worth the trip, as is lunch and a stroll in Carmel by the Sea, or a day at Refuge in Carmel, or Big Sur for the stunning coastal drive. If you make it to Big Sur, be sure to stop at Nepenthe for lunch and to take in the stunning view. The Cabin is located about 30 minutes from Los Gatos/San Jose and 45 from SJC International Airport, and an hour and 30 minutes from SFO International Airport. Please note: Our Unique, Secluded, Disinfected Refuge is 1 mile off of the main mountain road and we do not want you to be surprised about your drive in to the cabin. Here is what you need to be aware of: The conditions of the dirt road to the cabin can be a bit of a rough ride depending on the weather/season. There is cell service but NO Wi-Fi. Dusty, sometimes puddles from water draining from Natural Springs, Rocky in some areas, Single lane with areas for vehicles to pass, turns are tight (don’t go fast and make sure to be alert for other vehicles). A vehicle with extra ground clearance is advisable for your Cabin visit.
