The adjacent Town Parks are very well maintained and used by locals and vacationeers. Kennebunkport really is Fun and Happiness. Its a great place for Adults and Kids. Live in the luxury of modern amenities in a nearly 200 year old home. Kids can play in two parks surrounding the house. in the summer the town puts on free Shakespeare plays in the large park adjacent to the Old River House. The park in front of the Old River House has granite stairs going into the river for swimming at high tide or launching a kayak. This park was once the front yard property of the Old River House. Silas Perkins daughter who lived in the Old River House in the 1930's, donated the property to the town in memory of her dad, a famous poet. There is a small monument in the "Silas Perkins Park" that described this and many poems. The Inkkepers, Scott , Cheryl and family are available anytime during your stay. They are on site at the "Old Rigging Loft" barn which has a three bedroom apartment in it where they are located. 'The Old River House is nestled among the many old Captain's Mansions of the 18th Century. An almost $800,000 renovation in 2010 brings this grand old Captain's mansion back to its original grandeur. Antiques throughout the many rooms and the frequent passing of the Kennebunkport horse drawn carriage brings one back to that slower, more quaint part of American history. Morning coffee and evening drinks on the porch are just perfect for watching the river boat traffic and the children taking sailboat lessons at the 'Arundel Yacht Club' next door. Restaurants and pubs are all an easy walk. ***IMPORTANT*** As of 1/1/2019, The Old River House has FULL ELECTRIC GENERATOR SERVICE in case of outage. Sidewalks to town, or the beach. You can of course take the horse drawn carriage,Trolley that frequently pass by, and for larger groups you can have the Kennebunkport trolley pick you up at the Old River House. All of Kennebunkport is a quick walk away on sidewalks. The Arundel Wharf restaurant (one of the best, most reasonable and right on the river) is 400 feet away. Doc Square, heart of Kennebunkport is 0.20 away walk. Do you jog? Great jogging her in the "Port."
