Adobe Mtn Retreat is a warm ,cozy home nestled in a small valley high in the Rocky Mountains of Northern New Mexico.Back yard perfect for picnic, campfire, setting up your tent, or relaxing in the hammocks beside the creek. 15 miles to Sipapu with the best ski pkgs. in NM. Just 47 miles to Santa Fe and 30 miles to Taos. Both have an abundance of world class art galleries, restaurants, night life and more. Yes, we warmly invite you to come and experience the allure of your vacation getaway. WiFi. The space The back yard was the main attraction for us to Adobe Mountain Retreat. The grass surrounding the creek, the bridge where we sat and dangled our bare feet in the cold mountain stream above the cutthroat trout, imagining family gatherings around the campfire. The first step through the front door said “This is your home. Welcome”. During our 7 years here we’ve done a lot of remodeling. The wood stove mesmerizes, lighting and warming the hardwood floor. The coved log ceiling beams, called vigas, reflect centuries old architecture. The quiet speaks to reflection on today, yesterday, and tomorrow, on life and purpose. The dark night skies look back through milleniums of time and displays an eternity of celestial bodies (starry skies). Yes, we warmly invite you to come and experience the alluring appeal of your Vacation Retreat. The 1600 sq ft make for a spacious 2 bedroom house. All rooms are large. The cozy, comfy living room has the wood stove with plenty of firewood. TV’s, DVD’s, VCR’s, and Roku are in both the living room and Buffalo Room. The Buffalo Room also serves as an extra sleeping area. It allows for either individual program viewing or unified family viewing. A number of family friendly movies are on hand. An HDMI cable is available to connect your own personal device. Board games are in the entertainment center in the Buffalo Room. There’s also the opportunity for wildlife viewing from the Buffalo Room and dining room windows. Many times we’ve seen elk, coyote, and birds. Humming birds are a real attraction at the feeders outside the window in the summer. The cool summer nights, the thick adobe walls, and moderate daytime highs mean air conditioning is not necessary. However, there are 4 ceiling fans and a free standing fan if necessary. A special note: bedroom 2 (with a queen bed) is accessed through master bedroom (also with a queen bed). The Buffalo Room is on the other side of the house with a double hide-a-bed and 2 single beds. Absolutely no smoking is allowed in the house. Designated outside smoking areas are provided. Gas heat and wood stove. Plenty of firewood provided. The last 1 mile to the house is a gravel road that is well maintained by the county road department. Well stocked kitchen includes; coffee maker w/ coffee, Keurig, blender, crockpot, electric skillet, mixer, food processor, toaster, citrus juicer, cake and muffin pans cookie sheets, etc. refrigerator w/ ice maker Guest access The carport adjoins the front entry and is convenient for loading and unloading out of the weather. Guests have access to the entire main floor of the house. The daylight basement has a large bedroom and a large bathroom that can be rented as a separate connecting suite. It also has it’s own private entrance.The remaining basement space is reserved for our storage use. The space behind the house and surrounding the creek is available to all.
