Artificial lights, however, confuse the hatchlings, and they wander inland. Lost and disoriented, they soon die from dehydration, heat exhaustion, or are crushed on nearby streets - During Sea Turtle Season, all lights must be shielded from 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM. This includes closing blinds and drapes, keeping windows and slider doors closed, and turning off all lanai lights - TURTLE GLASS IS NOT ENOUGH, IT IS REQUIRED THAT DRAPES ARE CLOSED - If there is a violation, guests will be responsible for the payment of any fines. There is a $350 fine for the first violation and $500 for all subsequent violations
