Lakefront Cottage - Skaneateles Lake

Lovely restful lake cottage, home for many sun-freckled summers to the woman who when a young girl inspired J.D. Salinger’s character, Esme. Every room with a view, and with 267 feet of swimming and boating same-level frontage, the views are spectacular. Gorgeous stone and wood throughout. High ceilings, lots of light. Large porch for lakeside dining and relaxing along private grassy beach. Sleeps nine blissful souls. So quiet and peaceful in here, this must be what paradise is like. The space The house has been designed to bring the views and atmosphere of the lake inside by the use of sliding glass doors, moveable walls and a large integrated porch at the center of the cottage. The lake is visible from all 3 bedrooms. Skaneateles Lake is a reservoir for the City of Syracuse. It is considered the cleanest of the Finger Lakes. The Finger Lakes Land Trust is trying to create a necklace of green space around the south end of the lake to help preserve the forest land. They have a preserve directly behind our property (the trail is accessible from off of route 41. Additional Features: - large field for games etc. - mooring available - laundry - master bedroom suite - tastefully furnished - living room redecorated in 2017 - 25 minutes to the village of Skaneateles/50 minutes to Ithaca/20 minutes to Homer-Cortland - plenty of parking - housekeeping ready - gas grill - fire pit for camp fires Guest access You have access to the entire cottage with the exception of a locked store room. The dock, water front and the field behind the property are also included. There is another small cottage on the property that is not included in the rental. This cottage may be occupied by the owners if they choose to do so. Other things to note The property is composed of 4.5 acres and includes a large field suitable for games, extra parking etc. There is also a convertible couch in the living room that sleeps 2 people and a large couch is an option for one more. The cell reception is spotty. Sometimes it works in the house, but I can almost always get through out on the dock. The problem is that the lake is in a deep valley and the tower is on top of the hill, so the signal passes over us. Texting from the cottage works fine, at least with Verizon. We do have WiFi so if your phone can use WiFi to call then no problem. My mother has some folk art from the rural South that depicts various religious and social scenes and individual figures (the Last Supper, a "shotgun" wedding, angels, spacecraft). These objects are art works and do not reflect religious beliefs. They may challenge your usual perspectives on life, but that is what art is all about.
