Whispering Waters is a charming chalet style cabin with authentic cabin decor on Skykomish River in a small rural community just off Cascade Loop Highway surrounded by beautiful Cascade Mountains 60 miles NE of Seattle. The cabin has lots of romantic ambiance with a hot tub, seasonal gas river rock fireplace, loft king bed with river view, and balcony overlooking moss-draped trees. The cabin is close to great outdoor recreation: hiking, kayaking, skiing, rock climbing, biking, photography. The space Whispering Waters is a 600 sq ft cozy woodsy cabin with a king bed in the loft, as well as a queen bedroom downstairs if you don't want to climb stairs or need two beds. NOTE: There is a $30 cleaning fee if both beds are used when there are only two people. Open floor plan has a small full kitchen, dining area, and sitting area on the river side of the cabin. The kitchen is equipped with most cooking appliances and utensils you will need for cooking, and often there are some pantry items. The sitting area has a three-season propane fireplace, streaming TV, DVD, and Netflix. Bath with small shower is across the hall from the downstairs bedroom. The year-round covered hot tub is just a few feet from the front door with river and mountain view. A fire pit right next to the riverbank has a mountain view. Be sure to bring firewood so you can enjoy an aromatic crackling outdoors fire. Note: burn ban enforced when fire danger is high, common in late summer; or the very rare times there is poor air quality. The deck has a dining table and chairs, in addition to two rocking chairs, two lounge chairs, and two Adirondak chairs all overlooking the river. Bring briquettes if you plan to use the charcoal grill. Charcoal chimney and paper provided so no need for lighter fluid. Whispering Waters cabin is on a 10 ft high bank about 25 ft from the river, with easy river access via rock stairs and a short path. There is a rocky beach when the river level is down, most of the year. River will be higher in spring during mountain snow melt and heavy rain. Guest access The entire cabin is rented, including private hot tub. The rate is based on double occupancy, i.e., two people/one bed. There is an additional charge of $30/stay if two people use two beds. Maximum occupancy is two people. The cabin is not suitable for children due to potential dangers of the river and steep stairs to the loft. Other things to note Though the roads to the cabin are usually in good condition in winter, one should be prepared for winter driving approximately late fall through winter. The road and short driveway to the cabin after turning off Hwy 2 are flat and well maintained. The cabin is about two blocks from Hwy 2. Trains travel through town two blocks away; but in the 24 years of renting the cabin it hasn't been an issue for most guests, and some even want to take the sound home with them. The propane fireplace is turned off in warm weather and summer; there is electric heat if needed. The stairs to the loft are steeper and narrower than standard stairs.
