Beautiful mountain house with tons of space for families and friends. Just a 5-minute drive from the local favorite Alpine ski resort, and a 15-minute drive to Lake Tahoe (Tahoe City) or to Squaw ski resort and Truckee. Currently accepting reservations for longer-term rentals (i.e., 1 month or more). Please note that as part of the booking process, guests will sign a standard rental agreement acknowledging local guidelines and requirements for Alpine Meadows. There are many beautiful houses in the Alpine Meadows area, but few have the mountain views you'll find in our home. Perched on the side of a sheer rock face, the main windows open out on a stunning mountainside. On many days you can actually watch hikers make their way up Five Lakes Trail. You will have full run of the house, including the unlocked bedrooms, use of all the equipment and appliances in the amply stocked kitchen, washer and dryer, and the hot tub on the back porch. There are board games and playing cards available for you in a small cupboard below the toaster oven if you want to have a cozy night in. We work with a local property management company who will be very responsive to requests or concerns throughout your stay and will be accessible by both phone and email. The house is set up so that you can let yourself in and out through keys stored in lockboxes. Alpine Meadows is a charming and quiet neighborhood nestled in between Squaw and Alpine ski resorts, at the outskirts of Tahoe National Forest. It has a perfect balance between immersing you in nature but being close enough to other people and amenities and good restaurants and activities. Neighbors are friendly and a mix of locals and vacation home owners from all over northern CA. The closest public transportation is to Truckee or Tahoe City, and you would still need to get a taxi/car share ride to Alpine from there. Best option is definitely to drive your own car. There are enough spots for 4 tightly packed cars in the asphalt parking pad located at the top of the house on John Scott Trail. Street parking is also an option late spring through late fall. Our beautiful views are because the house sits on a steep slope - as a result there are 2 significantly steep stairwells, 1 to enter the house from the parking pad and 1 between the main floor and the bottom floor bedrooms. This is not a good house for adults with limited mobility or young children if you are not able to carry them or help them walk slowly on the stairs.
