Description

You'll love this recently remodeled, private basement apartment. It has all the essentials, starting with a kitchen that's got everything you need to cook up a meal and plenty of cabinet space. For dining, there are both a built in dining bar as well as a dining table. The next room over is a cozy living area with a sofa bed and a TV with a Fire Stick for all your streaming necessities. The bathroom has a full tub and shower and the bedroom has two dressers and a mini walk in closet for storage. The space This apartment is in such a great location. It is located in the back side/basement of a beautiful old 1935 Craftsman Bungalow that is nestled between two historic districts with lots of amazing early 20th century architecture. The neighborhood, known as 5 Points, is a 5 minute drive to downtown El Paso and Scenic Drive at the base of the Franklin Mountains and a few minutes walking from Memorial Park (where there is an indoor swimming pool, tennis courts and a public library). I-10 is a few blocks away and you can hop on and be at the airport, Fort Bliss, three shopping malls, the University Medical Center/Children's Hospital campus, or even two border crossings to Mexico in 10 minutes or less. If you want public transpo, there is a bus stop a block away and the Montana Street Terminal is just around the corner. In the up-and-coming 5 Points Entertainment District, you'll find a brewery, gourmet pizza, yoga studio, sandwich and wine shop, wings and a great breakfast place, as well as a number of bars to hop around during happy hour. It's all within walking distance. There are Wells Fargo and Chase banks nearby, too, as well as a hardware store and a Walgreens, and a local grocery store about a mile away. The area is very safe, with police headquarters just a few blocks southeast. Guest access You'll have access to the yard in the back of the house if you need it for your own use or for pets. We just ask that you please clean up after them immediately, as we and other guests we have in a mother-in-law quarters above our garage may also use the yard. Other things to note If there is ever anything you need, just let me know. Please don't neglect communicating with me and then leave me a negative review if there was something wrong. I want your stay to be as pleasant as possible and am not bothered by working to make that happen. A few things to be clear about: 1. This is a real neighborhood with real people. There are old and young, all different backgrounds and economic levels. On one side, I have neighbors who are young students, and on the other an apartment complex with mostly older folks. My street is busy with both vehicle and pedestrian traffic. It is a quintessential El Paso neighborhood. If you don't like people and the interactions and noise that sometimes come with them, this probably is not the place for you. 2. On the other side of the alley in back of my property, there is a train track. This is considered a quiet zone, so the trains typically won't be blaring their horns, but you can hear and feel them rumble by, especially if you are outside. Inside is not bad at all, especially in the basement. However, if you are a light sleeper and wake easily, this apartment may not be suitable for you. 3. I, my teenage son and dog live in the space above this apartment. We may make some noise walking around, so please don't expect things to be 100 percent quiet in the basement. It is an old house with wood floors and there is bound to be some noise made. We aren't typically up at all hours of the night, so you shouldn't have to worry about that. 4. As I mentioned before, I have a dog. He is VERY friendly, can get excited and jumpy, but does not bite. He likes to roam around the front and back yard and usually does so often. So, please, when you come in and out, make sure you close all gates so he doesn't escape. If you can't handle dogs, please let me know and I'll do my best to contain him as you are coming and going. 5. We live in a desert and at the foot of a mountain. That means there is a lot of dust and there are critters that can get indoors. We do our best to keep things tidy so the dust doesn't pile up, but it is impossible to keep it all out. Same with bugs. We fumigate monthly, but it doesn't always get them all. We apologize if you come across a fly, beetle, ants or even a cockroach, it is also impossible to keep them all out. We do have a cannister of Raid below the sink in the kitchen in case you need it. And remember, if you leave food or trash out, you are bound to attract critters, it's just nature. 5. Since this is a basement apartment, the plumbing can be a bit slower, especially in the bathroom. It may take a bit longer for the sink to drain than normal. We do ask that you please refrain from dumping anything other than water or things than are water soluble in the sink, and please DO NOT flush anything other than toilet paper down the commode. If we have to call a plumber to unclog things, we may ask you to pay for it.
