Waterfront paradise! Our listing is a group of 4 cottages on Upper Rideau Lake with panoramic views of the sunset and Westport. Fully renovated! Price includes use of all 4 waterfront cottages. The perfect place to be together at the lake and have space for yourself. 200' of shore directly on the lake which is part of the Rideau System. 5 minutes to the beautiful town of Westport. We include 10 kayaks plus a canoe, SUP and pedal boat for our guests to explore the lake. The space We have always loved the cottage lifestyle and cottage country, particularly the village of Westport. As our kids grew-up at the lake we realized we wanted to be able to continue to share cottaging with them as they had families of their own. This dream led us to find the Happy Place Cottages and start a multi-year renovation of 4 individual cottages which share one lakefront property. As our multi-year renovation takes shape, we are thrilled to finally have all four cottages ready to rent - this booking includes the rental of all four cottages together (they can not be rented separately.) Available to host families (or friends who are like family) in this time when we all need the chance to be together and get away, while providing each family with their own space, bathrooms, and kitchens. Our retreat on Upper Rideau is a place to disconnect and be together. There is a beautiful spot for a fire right at the lakeside, and areas to relax inside and out. This property is being completely renovated from top to bottom in 2020/21. Some key features include: The Explorer: A lakeside deck with a gorgeous sunset views. The second bedroom has a custom bunk with 4 built in beds - perfect for kids' sleepovers! The Dragonfly: A screened in sunroom with beautiful lake views Full kitchen Large eating area with space for group meals or board games Large living area with TV 4-piece bathroom The Dragonfly is a 3 bedroom cottage Two bedrooms have queen size beds The cozy bunkroom has a custom set of bunks and a double bed The Angler: A comfortable deck for outdoor dining Full kitchen An eating area with corner banquette and sitting area with couch and TV 3 piece bathroom The Angler is a 1 bedroom, but the one bedroom has been set up to be the ultimate family sleeping space with a queen bed and a very cool bunk set-up our custom built, triple bunks are all double beds - the kids will love these sleeping nooks The Angler: Our beautifully restored log cabin Full Kitchen with eating area Living room with porch-like windows overlooking the lake 3-piece bathroom The Angler is a 2-bedroom cottage. Bedroom 1 features a queen sized bed. The bunkroom features single bunks and a trundle bed should a third kid bed be needed. As beautiful as the inside of these cottages are, it is outdoors that you will want to spend all your time! Our large lot with a gentle slope to the lake gives room to play or relax. Swim, kayak or boat from the dock. Enjoy a campfire right down at the lake, hang out on the decks of the Explorer and Angler, or in the sunroom of the Dragonfly. We are located just 50m from a public boat launch at Forresters Landing Drive which is handy for those who bring a boat. We provide 10 kayaks, a canoe and a paddleboat to give all our guests a chance to explore the lake. The waterfront is clean and swimmable. Diving is not permitted off the docks as it is approximately 4 feet deep off the end, but the water is clear and the bottom is a sand/rock mix. The entry is fairly flat, but the shoreline has stones to protect against erosion so you need to step down a little into the water, or enter off the dock steps. Upper Rideau lake provides great fishing throughout the lake, or take a trip through one of the locks at either end of the lake to check out the Rideau System! Keep an eye out for the bald eagle that lives on the island just across from the cottages, watch the loons and other wildlife. We host groups of up to a 16 guest maximum despite the cottages offering more sleeping space than that. Please note: You are required to bring all your blankets, pillows, sheets, towels, and dish cloths for your stay. During the summer (mid-June to early September) check out is on Friday. Our cottage is on a quiet lane, and not suitable for groups intending to party or host loud gatherings. Our neighbours are kind and courteous, and we request that our guests are the same. Guest access Use of all four cottages, each cottage is fully equipped with a kitchen and washroom. Open access to the beautiful waterfront with a dock for swimming and paddling.
