Jug Handle - Pygmy Forest Room in the Bunkhouse

The Pygmy Forest Room is located in our Bunkhouse building. Think summer camp vibes! This large room features a Queen bed, small dining area, & one set of bunk beds. It can comfortably sleep 4. The Bunkhouse includes 3 other units, & you will likely have an opportunity to meet your neighbors. You'll have your own dedicated bathroom in a nearby building just a short walk from the Bunkhouse. You'll also have access to a fully equipped shared kitchen. Please Note: Dogs are no longer allowed. The space Jug Handle Creek Nature Center has a storied and fascinating history! Saved from development in the 1970s and located next to the Jug Handle State Natural Reserve, you'll find an abundance of trails, the Ecological Staircase, and access to the beach. The Bunkhouse provides clean, comfortable accommodations for travelers on a budget. The perfect base camp for your adventures! Guest access Jug Handle Creek Nature Center comprises the Bunkhouse, with four guest rooms and Sea Terrace classroom, the Farmhouse, 3 cabins, 2 cottages, and an 11 site campground... all tucked into the trees and overlooking the ocean on 33 beautiful acres. We hope you'll enjoy the peace and quiet tranquility of this treasured place. You'll find trails on the property that will lead you to both the beach and the Ecological Staircase. As a Nature Center first and foremost, we are proud of the educational opportunities and events we provide to local students and groups! Our Sea Terrace Classroom, located in the Bunkhouse, is often utilized for teaching and gathering purposes. Please note that, unless you have reserved the Bunkhouse in its entirety, classes and or events may be held in the Sea Terrace Classroom during your stay. If a particular class or event is open to the public and our guests, we'll be sure to let you know as we'd love to have you join us! There are two shared fire pits by the Bunkhouse which you are welcome to enjoy. (Bring your camp chairs and grab some firewood on your way.) You are welcome... and encouraged... to come wander, explore, and delight in nature! Other things to note Our Bunkhouse rooms are a fantastic value, offering simple, no-frills accommodations for travelers on a budget. The Mendocino Coast is the perfect place to unplug. Cell phone reception can be spotty, and there are no televisions here at Jug Handle, but we do have WiFi if you'd like to stay connected. WiFi information is posted in the rooms. Texts will often work better than calls. Jug Handle Creek Farm and Nature Center is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) nature education center and overnight lodging facility along the Mendocino Coast, CA, that serves as a gateway to Jug Handle State Reserve and the world’s largest intact Pygmy Forest and Ecological Staircase.
