Sunsets, Birds, Ping Pong! 15 minutes to Langley!
Description
Your suite is the lower level of our home. Waterfront on Cultus Bay, 15 minutes from Langley. Wall to wall windows and deck overlooking the bay. Gorgeous western views of mountains, sunsets, herons, eagles, and deer. Counter-top cooking (hot plates, small oven, micro, griddle, toaster, teapot) in kitchenette. Ping Pong. 15 min from the Clinton ferry, 15 minutes to Langley. Walk from here through woods to Possession Beach Waterfront Park . 1.5 hour to Seattle, if no ferry line or traffic! The space Astounding southwestern water/mountain view, just 15 minutes from Langley, on the southwest shore of beautiful Whidbey Island. Gorgeous sunsets. Large windows frame the views from all of the rooms (except the bathroom!) We are on a hillside above the channel that connects to Cultus Bay. Herons, eagles, gulls, ospreys, hummingbirds, otters, and more delight us! Deer frequent our back yard, too, and many guests have enjoyed waking up to grazing deer outside their window. You will stay in the downstairs level of a 2 story house. You'll find one traditional bedroom, and a second "bedroom" that is screened off from the living area with permanently installed shoji (Japanese style wood and rice paper) screens, which may be left open or closed. This room may double as part of your living area during the day, since it is beside the kitchenette, the rocking chair and glider, and the fireplace insert. Private bathroom with tub and shower. The kitchenette/living area is modest but charming, with a refrigerator, two-burner hot-plate, a microwave, and a countertop small oven, and a small dining table for four. During the winter you may enjoy using the fireplace insert. The Ping pong table, is situated in a part of the downstairs unit where we store our own books and art supplies, which you are welcome to use while you are here. Kids might enjoy our train set and puzzles. (We also store a few personal items in closed cabinets) The outdoor deck faces the canal where our dock is ( for viewing only. We don't host boats), Cultus Bay, and Olympic mountains. Pick-your-own raspberries in season in our front yard. In the spring, summer and early fall you will have your own entrance IF you are comfortable walking down a hillside either on grass, or on wood chips. If not, use the stairs inside our house, which are immediately to the left of our front door. We prefer that you use the inside stairs in the late fall and winter because it gets slippery outside. Let us know if you want us to put up a portable screen, if you prefer that the entrance via the stairs be more private. There is a door between the two floors. We live upstairs, and will share the washer/dryer with you. If you want to do more cooking than the downstairs kitchen allows, let me know and I will schedule time for you to use our bigger stove. We are just 15 minutes from the WA State Ferry in Clinton, which crosses over from Mukilteo in 15 minutes.. The drive to the ferry from Downtown Seattle is from 40 minutes to 90 minutes, depending on traffic. There may be a wait for the ferry. We MAY be able to pick you up if you aren't traveling with a car. We are 15 minutes south of Langley, a sweet seaside town. We are about an 8 minute drive to the Whidbey Institute. Our lot is more deep than it is wide, so please know that our home is close to our neighbors on either side, but our community is very quiet, and our guests frequently comment on the quiet, peaceful atmosphere here. Wireless connection. Just upgraded to 50. Non-smokers, no pets. Daytime lounging around: we have chosen to put a regular bed in the shoji room, since it is so much more comfortable to sleep in than a pull-out couch. We have also added a sofa bed in the ping pong that is surprisingly comfortable. ( Its a Lazy Boy) Lounge on the sofa, the bed, or in the rocking chair or glider, or on the outdoor deck or colorful hammock! We love sharing our beautiful view and hospitality with you. We have registered with the State of WA and Island County as a short-term rental, so your fee includes taxes to support Island County's and WA State's infrastructure. Guest access Guests have the entire lower floor of the house, as described above. In addition, guests with children can use our neighborhood playground. There are two choices of entry to the guest space. The outdoor entrance is not ideal for people with mobility issues, and we do not recommend it during the slippery winter weather. Guests may prefer using our upstairs entrance, through our garage , a shared hallway, and down the stairs to the guest area. We recommend this entrance during the rain or snow. OR Guests may walk to the north of our house, around the side of the house on a grassy hillside, down a ramp, onto the lower deck, then into the house. This is the entrance to use IF you use a wheelchair or walker to get there, but it is steep for wheels and so needs a strong guide. We frequently host a family member who uses a chair. The outdoor switch for the side light is to the right of the garage door, (facing it) on the north edge of the house. Please turn the side light off using the outdoor switch next to the double doors into the bedroom, on the deck. This way it will not bother our neighbor at night. Other things to note We live upstairs, and will share the downstairs washer/dryer with you. This is our home, which we enjoy sharing with our airbnb guests. It is not a hotel, not a traditional Bed and Breakfast ( no breakfast!) , and not an expensive private rental with professional staff! It IS a friendly, welcoming place to stay with a gorgeous view, peaceful setting, ping pong, and plenty of toys and board games! Look at our reviews to see if you value what previous guests have enjoyed. We look forward to meeting you!
