This is a private room in an owner-occupied townhome with privileges to the whole house (except master suite and home office). Even though it’s advertised as owner-occupied, it’s just me. I tend to spend most weekends out of town, unless it’s more convenient for me to stay local for any work or personal commitments House-to-yourself option (weekends only): (fee waived in JANUARY) If you wish to ENSURE the place to yourself on the weekends for complete privacy, please request this PRIOR to booking so I can make sure I can be away. I simply ask for a one-time surcharge of $40 for your entire stay. I will vacate the premises prior to your arrival, giving you complete privacy, and you won’t see me at all. If you choose this option, the guest room & bath are still the rooms you will sleep in/wash in, and not the master suite. Sorry, this option is not available for weekdays or long-term stays. In the future, the plan is to rent the entire property as a fully-furnished Airbnb or private long term rental. If you are interested, just ask me for more details. This is the perfect space for a long term or month-to-month tenant, such as professionals on a contract work assignment or those relocating and house hunting. Of course, short term, 2-night minimum stays are still welcome. If comfort, safety, ease of parking, and cleanliness are your priorities, then this is the Airbnb for you! Also, unlike other listings in the area, you will NOT have to share the house with any other Airbnb guests. I only host one reservation at a time. The guest room is on the second floor of my owner-occupied, 3 level, 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath townhouse. The guest room has a very comfortable queen bed with a memory-foam mattress topper, and either a 4-season down comforter with Pottery Barn duvet or a lighter weight quilt for summer, down pillows, and Pottery Barn bed linens. The hallway bathroom is dedicated for guests and will be all yours. At the opposite end of the hallway is the master bedroom. The 3rd bedroom is more or less a walk-in closet & home office. When I’m home, I’m quiet and considerate of my guest(s). And with three finished floors of living space, there is plenty of room to spread out. For any guests sensitive to cats, let it be known that a cat has been inside the house for short periods of time. The cat resides full-time elsewhere. If and when I ever bring it to this house, I do a thorough cleaning of the house and strive to leave no trace. Note that the guest room is always off limits to the cat. However, if you are highly sensitive to cats, this may not be the Airbnb for you. I provide a self checkin option with a lock box so you may check in at your convenience anytime after 3pm. Minimum stay of two (2) nights, but I may make an exception if you are interested in only one (1) night during the week (M-T-W-R). Please message me to inquire. Inquiries for stays exceeding 10 nights and monthly stays will only be considered for single occupancy travelers. Sometimes I make exceptions. This is a non-smoking property both inside and outside the house. There is plenty of space to park your car in the guest parking lot across from the house, as shown in the photos. If you reserve the house-to-yourself option or book a month-long stay, I will relocate one of my vehicles for you to park in my driveway. My home is on a cul de sac street, so there is very little traffic and it is very safe and quiet here. At Woodsy Nook you are surrounded by nature. Situated in a cozy little cul-de-sac, the home backs to a wooded nature preserve. You will see deer in the yard almost every day, plenty of birds and squirrels, and the occasional visit of a fox. Weather permitting, you can enjoy the deck overlooking the woods and feel like you are perched in a tree house. A short walk out the front door down the street brings you to an entrance to a very nice paved walking path through the nature preserve. I enjoy opening my home to guests and it's been all positive experiences. I would like to keep it that way. So, per Airbnb rules, I reserve the right to cancel any reservation I do not feel comfortable with. If I do, I will do so well in advance so one has plenty of time to find alternative lodging. There is an Airbnb for every type of traveler, and I’d say this Little Woodsy Nook of Serenity is for the traveler looking for a peaceful, relaxing retreat, close to nature, where cleanliness and safety are priorities. I prefer guests with a solid history of positive reviews. If you are a first-time Airbnb traveler, message me and I will review your Airbnb profile and evaluate on a case by case basis. Make sure you take the time to complete your Airbnb profile so I can learn about you before sharing my home with you. Guest access There are a total of three (3) finished floors in this townhouse. Guests have access to all three floors, including the kitchen, living room, and other living spaces. I just ask that you not enter the home office and master suite. You are welcome to stream TV in the living room (on the main level), or the "lounge" (my finished basement). I do not have cable, but have Verizon Fios Internet for streaming on Apple TV. Breakfast is not included but you are welcome to brew a cup of coffee or espresso drink with my new super automatic bean-to-cup espresso machine. As for the use of the kitchen and cookware, you may store items in the refrigerator and freezer and use the microwave, stovetop/oven for simple meal prep & reheating. But please do not plan on doing any elaborate cooking unless you’ve cleared this with me in your booking request or if you are planning to cook for me as well ;-). Please use care when using my cookware. And of course, bring all your own ingredients & spices. Don’t forget to take any leftovers with you. I avoid gluten and sugar and I follow a low carb diet. I most likely will not be able to eat what you leave behind, even though your intentions mean well. There is a finished basement, aka “Lounge,” with walk-out French doors with a very comfortable sectional couch and modest sized TV for streaming. Also in the lounge, there is an office desk & chair for guest usage. The gas fireplace is NOT included with guest access. *Note: Laundry washer/dryer usage is NOT included with a standard stay. However, for guests staying 7 or more nights, this amenity will be available. During your stay I live part-time in the residence. When I home, depending on the season, I am usually out and about during the day. I will leave you alone and give you space but I am always happy to sit down and share ideas and thoughts, tell you about the area, etc. Other things to note The room is on the 2nd floor, so guests need to be able to walk up and downstairs. The hallway bathroom is dedicated to this guestroom. The shower is in a bathtub, so you need to be able to step into the tub to take a shower. There is a curb one must step up to from the parking area to my sidewalk. Also there are steps leading from my sidewalk up to my front porch. Please remove outdoor footwear / shoes upon entering the residence. You are welcome to wear slippers or dedicated indoor shoes. There is no smoking on the property. Sorry, this is a firm rule. Suggested activities: I am an avid cyclist and welcome the opportunity to show any interested guests the biking trail system or scenic road routes nearby. If you like to sample local wines, my favorite winery & vineyard is Waywine located at 4374 Forge Road, Nottingham, PA, United States. Family owned and operated, they curate the best estate wines around, in my opinion. Tell the family I sent you! Bike & Hike & Brews at Hagley Museum - At Bike & Hike & Brews, visitors can stroll, jog, or bike through areas of Hagley's property normally closed to foot traffic. Bring a picnic or dine at the Belin House Organic Cafe. Bring a picnic and a blanket or a chair and relax while enjoying some live music at the nearby FREE* summer concert series at Delaware State Parks. Music ranges from oldies to big band to classic rock to country to indie. *Concerts are free with paid admission to park entrance ($8 per out of state vehicle/ $4 in-state vehicle). Friday nights.
