The Woodland Valley Lodge is the Catskill’s best - nestled in the Woodland Valley which John Burroughs called the most beautiful in the Catskills! The space A 1910 craftsman lodge with all the warmth and charms of wood beamed ceilings, douglas fir floors, and a stone fireplace, but fully updated with the modern comforts of home. Walk out the door and down to your own private firepit and 400+ feet of stream frontage, or chill inside drinking coffee or tea in our famous LODGE mugs. The Lodge has 2 bedrooms and a newly remodeled (early 2024) bathroom upstairs and another 2 bedrooms and newly remodeled bathroom (also 2024) downstairs. The Main Lodge room features leather sofas and a river stone fireplace with a beautiful Danish iron wood burning fireplace. The Screening / Reading room is immediately off the Main Lodge, and has another leather sofa for reading or streaming Netflix, Apple+, Amazon, HBO or Hulu on the Samsung flat screen TV. The kitchen then is back behind the Main Lodge room. It has stainless appliances (Bosch dishwasher, Wolf range, Samsung fridge and stacking Whirlpool washer / dryer) and a breakfast table. Back behind the kitchen is the Catskill dining room which seats 8-10. Here you are surrounded by forest on 3 sides and the fire pit and stream below. We have watched bear and deer from this room many times while drinking our morning coffee and toasted many a whiskey around the stone topped table in evenings - all amidst the forest enveloping us and our guests. You can swim, fish and hike on our 400+ feet of private stream frontage, or walk to nearby trailheads for hikes to Slide Mountain and Giant Ledge amongst others. Bike rides down to town are fun too (bring own bikes)! Restaurants in and around Phoenicia are some of the best in the country! Spas (Mensa and the Emerson) are also nearby if in need of some pampering. Other things to note * Samsung smart TV is set up to stream your Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, Amazon, Apple, or other streaming services. * Because the Lodge is "away from it all," cell service is limited to some spotty Verizon service. There is a house phone for calls to the contiguous 48 states and high speed WiFi internet. * Rates include a 4% tax to Ulster County which we pay quarterly.
