Welcome to our unique mountain retreat! This custom yurt is nestled directly between Salida and Monarch Mountain, making it a perfect base for your Colorado adventure. This 706 sq ft yurt boasts a full kitchen, bathroom with washer and dryer, and a separate bedroom under a beautiful tongue-in-groove ceiling that spirals up to reveal the dome, showcasing starry skies at night and ample natural light in the daytime. Enjoy a private outdoor space with wraparound deck & barrel sauna. Wrap up in a blanket, enjoy a hot drink, and don't miss the spectacular night skies! Snuggle up in the cozy bedroom with organic cotton sheets, a sound machine, and blackout curtains. The window captures the sunrise perfectly so you might want to wake up early once for that show. The yurt backyard leads directly to the San Isabel National Forest, and is a short drive from the Mt. Shavano trailhead and the Colorado Trail. Catching the sunset from the top of the hill in back provides an accessible experience with incredible views. I love to travel myself and aim to make your stay the best possible! In the yurt, you will find plenty of blankets, binoculars, games, books, a record player, a Nintendo with pre-loaded games & other extras to make your stay enjoyable. I am a conscious consumer that shops locally and sustainably whenever possible, using nontoxic soaps and cleaning products sourced primarily in Salida or Colorado. While constructing the yurt, I chose sustainable and non-toxic materials at every turn. Recycled denim insulation- yes. Zero VOC paint- of course. Guest access Guests have access to the entire yurt and surrounding acreage. The yurt is situated on 36 privately owned acres. Other things to note Salida is a short 15 min drive away. There you will find an assortment of restaurants, galleries, and shopping in the beautiful tree-lined, river adjacent downtown area. Monarch Ski Resort is also a 15 min drive from the yurt. Close enough to make first chair if you want. The resort is situated on Monarch Pass, at the continental divide and has 54 trails, two terrain parks, an extreme terrain area called Mirkwood, and the latest addition, a sledding park. The yurt is on a well with delicious water. No need to bring bottled water. Please note that access to outdoor amenities in the back can be limited during the winter/snow season. The sauna is accessible all year. The yurt is located on 36 privately owned acres adjacent to a small neighborhood. There is a primary residence on a separate driveway located on the same property. The yurt is easy to access from the main thoroughfare.
