Description
The Vineyard Mansion was built, in 1890, by the famed architectural firm of Eckel and Mann for B. R. Vineyard, a prominent attorney in St. Joseph, MO. Although divided into apartments in the 1940's, this Romanesque Revival style mansion has been meticulously restored back to its original use. We are proud to offer the Lincoln Room, a unique alternative to a hotel room, offering the privacy and comfort of a home away from home, enveloped in the grandeur and elegance of the Gilded Age. The space The spacious Lincoln Room features original, hardwood floors, a queen-size canopy bed, seating area, fireplace, and en suite bathroom. Additionally, the room is filled with beautiful, antique furnishings, hardware, and treasures, as well as period-appropriate art. Guest access Guests of the Vineyard Mansion enjoy access to the public areas of the main house, including the parlor, dining room, billiard room, kitchen, and foyer, as well as the gardens/grounds. Breakfast is self-serve, so feel free to go to the kitchen any time you want. We stock breakfast items and coffee in the food pantry off the kitchen, please help yourself. We stock yogurt, juices, eggs, cheese, almond milk, etc. in the refrigerator so please don’t be shy and help yourself. If you would like to make yourself a special breakfast by-all-means do so. We try to create a home away from home with the way we do things here, so if you want to make dinner or cookies go right ahead. During your stay If you want privacy or interaction we can accommodate both. We are also happy to provide guests with a brief tour and history of the property. Other things to note The Vineyard Mansion is 11,000 sq ft of building area. We are still in the process of ongoing restoration, which I am sure will last the rest of my life! So don't be surprised if we are doing upgrades someone in the building.
