Description
Concan and the spring fed Frio River has been a favorite destination for many families since 1926. It is also the perfect place to be in the Off-Season: - Weather is great and less congested than in the summertime. - In the Spring birders travel from all over the country to see rare birds. All guests have access to the spring fed Swimming Hole. "Floating the Frio" has not been good for several years because of the drought. Pray for rain. The land and rivers are thirsty. The space Cabin 62B is basically one room. It has a wall with 4 open windows and a door to divide the space. A full bed and a single are in the kitchen area which has a refrigerator, stove top, toaster oven, microwave and coffee maker. Kitchenware is provided. A full bed is in the front area with the TV. Linen is not provided; however, they can be provided for a one-time fee of $10 per bed and will be placed in the cabin. There is a bbq pit as well as a fire pit outside of the cabin. Please bring your own chairs as they are not provided. If you are from out-of-state, we can find a couple of chairs to leave outside. Guest access Cabin 62B is on the flat side of the Frio River so you really can't see the river but it is just a short walk and is located behind 62A. These two cabins have this private access as well as access to the Concan Swimming Hole. . Other things to note See my Guestbook for places in the area. Tubing the Frio has been basically non-existent due to drought conditions. TUBES AND SHUTTLES 1. Tube rentals and shuttles are available at different outfitters in the area. 2. Listen to their instructions before you try floating the river on your own. 3. The river does NOT flow in a circle, so no one will be where you get in to pick you up when you get out! 4. Make sure you (and those who are going to pick you up) know where you are getting in and out and how long it will take to reach the next public exit -- or your cabin area. 5. Do not get out of the river at any point except at a public exit or where you have access thru your cabin or home rental. 6. The "First Crossing" of the Frio River is at the end of the "Concan Swimming Hole" property on Hwy 127 and is the LAST PUBLIC EXIT. 7. If you keep going, you will end up having to walk back upstream because there are no public exits -- only private property. Trespassing rules apply.
