This house was built in the early 1800's as part of a small town "Rossburg" that no longer exists and is reported to have been a Tavern. This is one of the last remaining structures for this town along with the barn and house across the street. The house sits on one acre of land surrounded by farmland, so you'll have opportunity to relax by a campfire, enjoy the unique architecture of the house, or explore the wide variety of entertainment options all within 20 minutes of the house. Front part of the house is the original log cabin build in the early 1800's. The house has grown twice through additions since. Please note that due to the age of the house there are some unique features that may impact those with mobility issues or some pets. The main bathroom and shower is upstairs as are the bedrooms and this requires climbing narrow stairs that curve and are much steeper than a modern staircase. There is a door at the bottom of the stairs if you wish to contain pets on the first floor. There is no shower on the first floor. There are some items to note that are somewhat unique to a property of this age, and some guests may not be familiar with these items: 1. The latches for the internal doors are old latch style and not modern door knobs. 2. The house has Floor Board heating. Each room is controlled independently. The Front Bedroom and Front Main Room have wall mounted Thermostats. The heaters in each of the other rooms are controlled by rotary knobs located on the each baseboard heater itself. Floor board heaters can make slight amount of noise as they heat up and cool down. 3. The house has a water pump inside the Laundry Room. When water is turned on the pump will activate and make noise similar to a washing machine. There are two bedrooms upstairs, each has a queen sized bed. The couch in the first floor front room is a sleeper sofa, linens and pillows are located in the lower cabinet to the right of the fireplace. Additionally, there is a twin size self inflating air mattress in the upstairs front bedroom closet. Additional towels and linens are located in the dressers in the upstairs bedrooms. Property is private and has a fire ring, firewood is provided! All areas of the house with the exception of the garage and a back storage room. Owner lives nearby and is available via cell for any concerns during your stay but won't bother you. Within 20 minutes you can get to Loveland, Mason, Maineville, Lebanon, and Morrow. Local recreation is abundant with King's Island, The Beach Water Park, two different canoe rental locations, the Loveland Bike Trail, and several restaurants and stores are all within 20 minutes of the house. The property is also centrally located to several state parks and lakes (Stonelick State Park, Cowan Lake, and Caesar Creek). Other close areas of interest include Fort Ancient, Camp Kern, Valley Vinyards Winery, Loveland Castle & Museum, Ozone Zipline Adventures, and Bel-Wood Country Club for Golf. We are rural, there's no public transportation and rarely an Uber driver around. The house has a driveway that can accommodate a couple vehicles. Please note, due to Coronavirus we are taking extra precautions by disinfecting frequently touched surfaces between guests (even more than before!) Access is through electronic lock. Access code will be provided before check-in after booking. You must not use the wood burning stove in the front room. There is no chimney connection and it will burn the house down. DO NOT USE THE FIREPLACE IN THE FRONT ROOM. Additionally, this house was built well before building codes. Stairs are steep and narrow (45 degree slope), and they curve. There are steps between rooms, etc. Please ensure you are comfortable with this before booking. If you are looking for something modern, built to current standards, you will not find it here. If you are looking for something really unique, away from the city, where you can relax, enjoy the outdoors, and be relatively close to pretty much anything you need, this might be your kind of place. There are two individuals available who are certified by the State of Ohio to Solemnize Marriages. If you are interested in holding a small wedding on the property please contact us to discuss. While rural, the house is located in a residential area. This means we are susceptible to neighborhood activity, and must also be respectful of noise and disturbing others.
