The property was complete gutted and remodeled. Plumbing, electrical, HVAV were all updated. We’ve attempted to pay homage to the original feel of the home and the historic Bronzeville neighborhood, keeping and restoring as many original elements as possible (mirrors, mantels, fireplaces, some doors, etc.). We’ve decorated and furnished the first floor with antique and vintage furniture and accessories. The main beds were built at the end of the civil war. Other furniture and accesories are over 100 years old. Go back in time with modern day amenities. We are attempting to create a feeling of spending a few days in your grandmother’s or great granmothers home. We have great childhood memories of doing just that. We ask that you share that vision with us and enjoy this historic home with the care and respect it needs and deserves. The short term rental space includes a fully equipped modern kitchen with new appliances and granite countertops. There is coffee and tea, in the kitchen as well as bottled water in the refrigerator. Please help yourself to anything in the refrigerator or kitchen cabinets that are not locked or closed with zip ties. Dishes, cups, and flatware are in the cabinets above the stove. The kitchen has an island for eating meals. There is a living area with a large flat screen TV and ornamental fireplace. The third bedroom has a full-size daybed. There is a washer and dryer in the unit, but they are not included in the rental. They are reserved for the cleaning people to do bedding. This is a historic property. It needs and deserves some considerations from guests, like taking special care of the hardwood floors, be gentle with the pocket doors in the front and the barn doors in the back bedroom. Please don't flush anything down the toilets other than toilet paper--no sanitary napkins, no non-flushable or flushable wipes, no paper towels. Even though the plumbing has been completely updated, this is still a 180+ year old house. plumbing can be temperamental. It is not fun and extremely inconvenient to go fishing for sanitary napkins out of the sewage line after they back up the sinks, showers, and/or toilets Our family private quarters are on the top two floors. You might meet my dad or my brother as they enter and/or leave the building. Registration Details R24000119506
