Big Sur Coast ~ Stunning Ocean Views ~ Cliff House

Enjoy sweeping ocean views from nearly every room of the Cliff House on the rugged Big Sur coast. Located on iconic Hwy 1, the house is quiet and private, yet only a 15-minute drive to Big Sur and a 25-minute drive to Carmel. Rental of the Cliff House includes an adjacent 500 sq. foot private bunkhouse with epic views. The house is unsafe for young children due to our cliffside setting and limited fencing. The space Number of Guests and Sleeping Accommodations: The Cliff House comfortably sleeps six people. The primary bedroom is very large with dramatic ocean views, a king-sized bed, and a small en suite bathroom. The second bedroom is standard-sized with a queen bed, no en suite bathroom, and no ocean views. There is also a double-sized sofa bed in the den/television room. Although the doors to the den can be closed, the access to the primary bedroom is 1) through the den or 2) can be accessed from outside from one of the patios. A remodeled adjacent 500-square-foot studio space (a.k.a. the Bunkhouse) is included, featuring a kitchenette, dining area, and private bathroom. The Bunkhouse has a queen-sized convertible futon sofa as well as a private deck with gorgeous ocean views. The maximum number of guests is six for both the Cliff House and Bunkhouse. Please note: The Bunkhouse is ONLY available for rent with the Cliff House. Neither unit is rented separately. Pets: Pets are accepted on a case-by-case basis, but there is limited fencing and we are on a 250-foot cliffside setting. There is a $75 non-refundable, pet cleaning fee, as our housekeeping staff spend extra time ensuring the house is allergin free for the next guests. Children: The Cliff House is not suitable or safe for young children. The house is located on a very steep cliff with a sheer drop of several hundred feet to the ocean. There is no secure fencing between the house and the cliff. Fireplace: There is a stone fireplace in the main living room. Due to the threat of wildfires in the region, we ask all of our guests to take extreme caution when using the wood-burning fireplace. Once you reserve, we will include fireplace safety in our arrival instructions. The Bunkhouse is a completely separate studio with a private entry. For guests staying in the Bunkhouse, please note that the off-grid power system is located in the back of the building. If there are power issues or maintenance is needed, the electrician will be accessing the area. The Bunkhouse deck has privacy gates on each side of the fence and the electrician will not enter the guest space, though the guest may hear the electricians while they are performing the maintenance. Other things to note Satellite Internet: We are excited to say that we have recently upgraded our internet access to the new Starlink system. You will have the capability to stream, download, and make video calls. The network occasionally goes down due to the high winds we experience. Cell Phone Coverage: Guests with AT&T will have cell reception but no other providers service the area. AT&T reception can still be spotty. There is a landline in the Cliff House for guests' use. Monterey County Taxes: A 10.5% tax payment is included in the pricing in keeping with the local ordinance.
