For nice walks by the water, there is the Walnut Street Bridge, the River Walk, and the South Chickamauga Creek Greenway. There is obviously a lot of water for flatwater kayaking or renting a pontoon boat. If you go a little further, you can whitewater kayak or raft the Hiwassee or Ocoee Rivers (~ 1hr).
