Casita along the Rio Hondo, Taos

This bright and airy casita offers unparalleled views in every direction and absolute privacy and peace just minutes from the charming village of Arroyo Seco, Taos Ski Valley, and the town of Taos. The space Bright sunshine and mountain valley breezes stream through this tranquil casita situated in the verdant, ancient valley of the Río Hondo in the village of Valdez. Unmatched views of the valley, mountains, and orchard spread out in every direction. Sunrise, sunset, starry nights and ever-changing cloudscapes can be enjoyed from the deck overlooking the private property or from the coziness of the casita. The interior offers beautiful traditional features with vigas, hand finished waxed plaster walls, saltillo tile flooring and double sliding doors opening up onto the private deck and landscape. Conveniences include fast fiber optic internet + WiFi, Apple TV (no satellite/cable), an outdoor gas BBQ grill, a work space with built-in desk and bookshelves, and a gas fireplace that is easily operated by a wall thermostat. In the kitchenette you’ll find a refrigerator/freezer, microwave (in cupboard above fridge), toaster oven, auto coffee maker, electric kettle, and two burner hot plate (*no stove), along with the other amenities listed. The bedroom is semi-open to the living area and views, has an en-suite bathroom, and features a queen bed with comfortable mattress and quality bed linens. There are generous drawers below the bed for additional storage. Located central to the most scenic and popular destinations for both Taos visitors and locals alike, the casita is located less than 5 minutes to the village of Arroyo Seco where you’ll find exceptional galleries, restaurants, shops and a small market; 8 miles to Taos Ski Valley for summer hiking, biking, fishing and of course world-class skiing and snowboarding in the winter months; 10 minutes to the Town of Taos, and 10 minutes to the John Dunn Bridge for access to the Rio Grande and Black Rock hot springs to name just a few options. This is a perfect escape for one or two seeking peace, privacy, and immersion in nature. Other things to note Check-in: after 3:00pm Check-out: before 11:00am This is a rural location with a lot of wildlife activity. We do not allow pets for safety reasons. Please give all visiting animals (black bears, coyotes, skunks, friendly neighborhood dogs on patrol, etc.) space and respect. Please enjoy the casita, the deck, and the immediate surroundings. The orchards and other areas of the property are private access only. To discourage small visitors from sneaking into the casita, please keep the screen doors closed during your stay. Please note that the microwave is in the kitchen cupboard above the fridge. Don’t be shy to look around - all items in the casita are for your use and enjoyment. The Taos area often receives heavy snow in winter with extreme diurnal temperature and weather variations year-round. All-wheel or 4-wheel drive vehicles with appropriate ground clearance are recommended during winter months at the casita. Other vehicles may have trouble maneuvering. It is located about 30 yards down a well-maintained gravel driveway with a gravel parking area. The main road (NM-230) is paved and is plowed after heavy snowstorms. This is a traditional rural New Mexican community with a rich and unique history. It is inhabited by families from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds. We love and respect this uniqueness and embrace visitors who do too.
