The nest thermostat must be at least one degree colder than the living room thermostat in order for the air conditioning to work properly. POOL: When our temperatures dip overnight to these numbers our pool heaters may not run. We know this is not ideal, but we are at the mercy of mother nature vs. technology. We want to pass along some information that will help you understand this situation. How do heat pumps work? Heat pumps work like a reverse AC system. They extract heat from ambient air. Low ambient air temp = no heat to be pulled. It typically takes 2-3 days to heat up from 70 to 85 degrees and heat pumps will NOT heat up pools at all if temperatures are 60 and below. At best, they can maintain the current pool water temperature. While we want you to enjoy your heated pool for your stay and would love to simply turn the heater temperature up, but this will not help at all. Unfortunately, the only thing we can do is wait for the temperature to warm up and let the heat pumps work when they are able. During these rare cooler temperature situations, we are not able to compensate for pool heaters not functioning. It is simply out of our control. Thank you.
